Wimbledon is famous for its ultra-traditional ways, not the least of which is its stuffy dress code, requiring mostly white clothing. The rules call for little or no "bold" or "fluorescent" colors, no "solid mass" of coloring and a preference toward pastel colors, among other specifications. Still, in a fashion-conscious sport, some players still find ways to express themselves — sometimes even breaking the rules. We salute the rebels with a cause.

The infamous catsuit. American Anne White turned plenty of heads at the All England Club with this outfit in 1985. Hey, she got the color right.

The "Rebel" himself. Agassi famously skipped Wimbledon from 1988 to 1990, citing the club's traditional ways and dress code rules as the reason. Agassi ultimately came around, obeyed the clothing rules, and won the tournament in 1992.

Just last year, Serena Williams raised some eyebrows with this purple headband and matching tights that were exposed every time her dress flapped up. The official Wimbledon site even had an article pointing out how close this one was to the line. Like all other Wimbledon outfits, hers was submitted for approval ahead of time and approved.

The seven-time champion has been a trend-setter with his dapper outfits at the All England Club. He has never run afoul of the dress code, but he has managed to infuse quite a bit of personality into his shoes. Here you can see the purple-and-green color scheme he sported in 2012 — a nod to the colors of the club itself — along with the number "6" on the Wimbledon trophy — a nod to the number of titles he had won there at the time.

Known as a fashion outlier on the tour, the American sported this spirited jacket in 2011. It's certainly white, we'll give her that. And the eye black is a nice touch.

One of the few incidents of outright disapproval came last year, when Stepanek was ordered to change his shoes ahead of a match against Novak Djokovic. The Czech's kicks were deemed too colorful. You can check out the offending shoes here.

The elder Williams sister is no stranger to creative outfits, including this one she wore at the All England Club in 2011. If she catches enough air, she might actually take flight with those shoulder wings.
