Nalbandian, ranked No. 117 after missing 12 of the past 15 months due to injury, came out of nowhere to dominate his way to the title in DC, beating Marcos Baghdatis in the final 6-2, 7-6 (4). |

Singles: Andy Murray Doubles: Bob and Mike Bryan |
Fourth-ranked Andy Murray defended his title by defeating No. 3 Roger Federer 7-5, 7-5 in the final. All of the world's top four made the semifinal round, with Murray beating No. 1 Rafael Nadal and Federer beating No. 2 Novak Djokovic. |

Federer beat Mardy Fish in a tightly contested three-set final to defend his crown and pull into a tie atop the U.S. Open Series standings with Andy Murray. The Bryans won their third doubles title of the summer. |

Stakhovsky beat Denis Istomin 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 for his second title of the year, improving to 4-0 overall in ATP finals. Lindstedt and Tecau were Wimbledon finalists this year. |

Returning to the site of her comeback tournament a year ago, Clijsters won the Cincinnati event in a three-set final over Maria Sharapova, outlasting the Russian in the rain-delayed match, 2-6, 7-6 (4), 6-2. |

Multiple days of rain forced the semifinals and final of the tournament to Monday, August 23. Wozniacki breezed past Svetlana Kuznetsova and then beat Vera Zvonareva 6-3, 6-2 to win the title. |
