Queensland teenager Monika Wejnert caused a major upset to beat Japan's Yurika Sema in the women's final of the Perth International yesterday.

Wejnert, who advanced out of qualifying, beat No.\x{2002}1 seed Sema 7-6 (10-8) 7-5 in a stunning display of precision hitting at the State Tennis Centre.

The 16-year-old was entitled to feel nervous in the first set tie breaker against 21-year-old Sema. But Wejnert responded with a series of well-placed shots to set the stage for her win.

Victorian Andrew Coelho defeated NSW teenager Brendan McKenzie 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 in the men's final.

Former world No.\x{2002}105 and Australian Davis Cup player Todd Reid was forced to pull out of his semifinal against Coelho on Saturday due to an elbow injury.

Kaden Hensel and Adam Hubble outlasted Adam Feeney and Mikal Statham in the men's doubles 6-4 7-6 (7-2), with Alexis Proussis and Robin Stephenson claiming the women's doubles against Jade Curtis and I-Hsuan Hwang 7-6 (7-5) 7-6 (7-4).
