Americans Melanie Oudin and Jill Craybas, Russian Maria Kirilenko, Italian Sara Errani, Israeli Shahar Peer and Slovak Magdalena Rybarikova headline a strong women's qualifying field of Pilot Pen Tennis to be held Aug. 21-29 at the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale in New Haven, it was announced by tournament director Anne Worcester. Oudin, 17, who earlier this summer became the youngest American woman to reach the fourth round of Wimbledon since Jennifer Capriati in 1993, and the veteran Craybas, are just a couple of the recognizable names in the deep field. In addition to those two, Kirilenko, who won three titles last year and appeared in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue earlier this year; Errani, who won two titles last year and is an Italian Fed Cup stalwart; Peer, who won three titles in 2006; and Rybarikova, who won the first title of her career at Birmingham earlier this summer, comprise a qualifying draw field with a cutoff of No. 93 in the world, the strongest thus far of any tournament held this year. The qualifier starts 10 a.m. Aug. 21 and 9 a.m. Aug 22 and tickets are $5. For more info, call the Pilot Pen Tennis box office, 888-99-PILOT or 203-776-7331, or log on to www.pilotpentennis.com
