ITF 2 Junior World Ranking Amman Open International

LAHORE, July 31 -- Pakistan's promising junior tennis player Samir Iftikhar stormed into the singles and doubles semifinals of the ITF 2 Junior World Ranking Amman Open International at Sports City Tennis Stadium in Jordan on Thursday. Enjoying superb form and fitness, Samir, Pakistan's only top ranked junior player in the ITF circuit, made short work of Cem Ilkel of Turkey in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 and came one step closer for his maiden ITF title. It is pertinent to mention that Samir won the doubles title of the ITF One Amman Open last week.

Later Samir and Sultan Zaid of Kuwait outplayed Kevin Albonnetti of Italy and Abu Deyah of Jordan with ease 6-3, 6-2. The pair had sent Indian duo of Mehra and Singh packing home 6-1, 6-1 in the earlier round. Samir will now meet a tough opponent in Kevin Albonnetti of Italy who was the finalist during last week's ITF One Amman Open. The semifinal is believed to be a crowd thriller and young Samir will have to bring out every shot out of his armour to beat his Italian rival. "I am enjoying playing tennis and it is a good feeling to move into the semifinals in both singles and doubles. Obviously, the task is going to be tough and demanding as it is too difficult to show perfection in singles and doubles matches at the same time," he said in his post match comment Published by HT Syndication with permission from Right Vision News.
