MURRAY HAS WOMAN'S TOUCH

ANDY MURRAY could win Wimbledon this year because he has a woman's touch - according to Britain's last singles' champion Virginia Wade. Ginny, who won the women's way back in 1977, claims the involvement of Andy's mum Judy has given his game the necessary subtlety and variety to out-manouvre the big guns . As third-seed Murray prepares to face No19 Stanislas Wawrinka on Centre Court today, Wade, now 63, said: "Andy has got so many options to his game. "I think it's because Judy was his coach - it is so unusual to have a female coach. It adds a few more touch shots to a game rather than just all big boomers. "He can do anything. He chases balls down, he throws in some slices which are very effective. He lures his opponents into the net. I have seen it time after time. "What I think is his best asset is that he retrieves so well and his defensive game is so good. "But he also has an aggressive game as well. If you look at all the players, they all hit the ball magnificently well at a million miles an hour from the baseline but most of them don't know how to stay in the point if things go a little bit wrong. He has got that other option and it is fantastic." Wade also knows all about the pressure of home expectation. But she insists: "Having Wimbledon behind you is like surfing. If everything is going well, the wave takes you and you feel like you are on top of the world. If it is not quite right, it overwhelms you and you are grovelling in the sand and upside down and inside out. He is so good at coping. He is smart. He is a lot smarter than a lot of Tennis players I see. He should go all the way to the final." On Saturday, Murray simply brushed aside Serbian Viktor Troicki 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 to reach the last 16. His third win was better than his second over Ernests Gulbis - and head and shoulders above his opening four-set struggle against American Robert Kendrick. In fact, the biggest inconvenience Mur- ray suffered this weekend was when his dog Maggie woke him up too early on Sunday - and a text from former James Bond, Sean Connery. Still, as he twittered: "It's nicer than somebody trying to sell you a phone upgrade."
