Venus and Serena aim for an all-Williams affair

Venus Williams believes she and sister Serena can dominate the women's game for years to come as she focuses on reaching another Wimbledon final. Williams reached today's semi-final with an easy win over Agnieszka Radwanska, to set up a last-four clash with world No1 Dinara Safina. Russians Safina and Elena Dementieva stand in the way of another allWilliams final, but 29-year-old Venus is already looking much further ahead than Saturday's Centre Court clash. Williams has now won 32 consecutive sets at Wimbledon, the longest streak since Martina Navratilova won 40 be-tween the 1982 and 1985 finals. The last time Venus dropped a set was in the third round to Akiko Morigami in 2007. "Being in the semi-finals again is obviously where I want to be right now," she said. "I would love it to be an all-Williams final and so would Serena. That would be great." Williams has appeared in seven finals in the past nine years, winning five times, and although Wimbledon is where she has enjoyed her greatest triumphs, she also has two US Opens among the 41 titles she has collected. She is also the only active player to have won more than 40 tour singles titles, despite being selective about her playing commitments. Safina holds the exalted position of being top-ranked and top-seeded, and yet she has yet to win a grand slam. The Williams sisters are aiming to overtake her. As far as Safina is concerned, anything beyond the fourth round on grass is a bonus, so a semi-final against Venus Williams is beyond her expectations. "Every day I am improving, I'm getting better playing here," said Safina. "If I play my best and she plays the best, it's 50/50 who's going to win the match. "I don't think if I play my best Tennis and she plays her best, that she's the favourite - I think I still have a chance." Dementieva knows Serena well. In Melbourne in January, it was Williams who won the semi-final battle, as she did six years ago on the way to her second Wimbledon title.
