Third set
Tiebreak: Murray starts with an ace, then gets a Federer mishit on the forehand side for a 2-0 lead. Murray can't handle the ensuing second serve from Federer, and the world No. 1 gets on the board.
Still up a mini-break, Murray imposes his will on the next point, forcing Federer into a miss. Murray then misses badly on a backhand to get us back on serve at 3-2. A huge serve from Federer evens the tiebreak 3-3 as the players change ends.
Another backhand error from Murray gives Federer his first lead of the tiebreak, 4-3. A nice cross-court forehand from Murray gets him level at 4-4, then a bomb up the middle makes it 5-4 in favor of the Scot. Still on serve.
A fantastic forehand pass from Murray stymies Federer and gives Murray two set points. Federer saves the first thanks to a sharp-angle forehand. Murray connects on a solid serve, then a solid backhand, but Federer punches both back and Murray hits the tape with his next shot. It's 6-6 and the players change ends.
Federer misses a forehand on the next point to give Murray his third set point. After a long rally, Murray misses a makeable backhand volley to make it 7-7. Federer then sends an ace out wide to give himself championship point at 8-7. Murray comes to the net, hits a volley to the back corner, and Federer barely misses the up-the-line pass attempt. It's 8-8.
Federer chops a slice backhand into the net and now Murray has a fourth set point chance. Federer hits a big serve, keeps Murray on the defensive and coaxes an error to make it 9-9. The players change ends yet again.
Federer earns another championship point, but Murray fights it off by pushing a Federer drop shot up the line and just inside the line. Federer hits the tape on the next point to give Murray a fifth set point. A service winner erases it. It's 11-11 as this unbelievable tiebreak wears on.
Another great serve out wide from Federer helps earn him a third championship point. On the next point, Murray fires a backhand into the net and that's it! Roger Federer has won his 16th career Grand Slam title!
Game 12: An easy hold for Federer. We're off to a tiebreak. Federer is on the brink.
Game 11: Murray fires a few aces en route to a tough hold. He could've really used those big serves two games ago.
Game 10: Federer comes back strong with a hold. Down to crunch time in this set.
Game 9: Federer earns himself an opportunity at 15-30. Murray rails a cross-court forehand for 30-30, then Federer returns the favor on the next point to get a break point chance. A big serve saves it, then Federer earns another break point on some dodgy net play from Murray. After a long rally, the Scot slams a forehand into the tape. Federer is back on serve.
Game 8: Federer holds. Murray doesn't mind ... he's focused on one more hold.
Game 7: Murray has his trademark emotion back and holds easily. He's not going away in this match.
Game 6: Federer comes out a little sloppy and Murray takes advantage, seizing a 0-40 lead. A typically calm Federer saves two, but Murray then wins an exciting rally with both players at net. He's up 4-2 with a chance to get back in this match.
Game 5: Murray holds. Now he needs to make something happen on his opponent's serve.
Game 4: Run-of-the-mill hold for Federer. You get the feeling he's about the secure the break he needs to finish off this match.
Game 3: Quick hold at love for Murray. He seems to be righting the ship, but it sure is far off course.
Game 2: Murray puts up a fight in Federer's first service game of the set, earning a break chance. Federer, though, fights his way to the hold.
Game 1: Murray starts the third set with a quick hold. Does he have any kind of rally in him?
Second set
Game 10: Not even a sniff. Federer holds easily. He's one set away from his 16th career Grand Slam title.
Game 9: Murray holds easily. Now he has to break.
Game 8: Before you can blink, it's a hold at love for Federer. Murray has one chance left in this set.

Game 7: Federer gets out to a 0-40 start, and just when you think Murray is dead to rights, he rallies back for the critical hold.
Meanwhile, this tidbit came in earlier from FOXSports.com tennis writer Richard Evans on the scene: "The stadium roof is only half open in anticipation of rain, hail and thunderstorms that are forecast for this evening. The mixed doubles final was played with the roof closed this afternoon when a dramatic weather change took place -- temperatures plunging from the 90s to the 60s.
"The two girls who make the sandwiches in the players restaurant are both of Scottish heritage and were busy writing Andy a good luck note on the back of a paper bag, before handing to trainer Jez Green."
Game 6: Federer wins a long rally at 30-30 when a backhand slice slaps the net cord and falls over. Bad break for Murray. Federer holds for 4-2.
Game 5: The crowd is firmly behind Murray now. He goes down 0-30, then gets a big applause with a strong serve to get to 15-30. Federer wins the next point, but Murray staves off both break chances and holds. He's giving himself a round of come-ons, trying to find a spark. Is it too late?
Game 4: It's quiet in Rod Laver Arena as Federer continues to work his magic. Murray has hope at 30-30 but Roger wrestles his way to the hold for 3-1.
Game 3: Crazy forehand pass from Federer from well behind the baseline sets up triple break point. He cashes in on the first one. This match is headed for an early end if Murray doesn't up his game.
Game 2: Another easy hold from Federer. Murray needs to land a punch against him soon.
Game 1: Murray holds, as he badly needed to do. Can he get his confidence back?
First set
Game 9: Federer scores an easy hold, finding a wicked angle on a backhand to push Murray off the court and finish the set. Federer is settling in now too.
Game 8: Classic Federer to get himself another look, hitting just inside the lines with his huge shots. He notches a break with an inside-out forehand and will serve for the set.
Game 7: Murray applies pressure again, getting a window at 15-30 but Federer hits his way out of trouble.
2010 Australian Open
Game 6: A nice, easy hold for Murray gets us to 3-3. He seems to be settling into his game.
Game 5: Federer labors again on his serve. So much for that clean start. He fights off three break points and closes with an ace to keep his nose in front at 3-2.
Game 4: This will not be a match where break chances are hard to come by. Federer gets a look at 15-30 but Murray reels off three straight points -- aided by a successful baseline challenge -- to level the opening set.
Game 3: Federer looks very clean to start this match, hitting his spots. Murray looks nervous. Of course, just when I say that, Murray hits a great running pass to get two break points, then sends another pass by Federer to break back. Crucial response from the Scot.
Game 2: Very shaky service game from Murray. Federer sends a gorgeous backhand up the line to earn three break points and capitalizes on the second with a powerful cross-court forehand. The master takes the early lead.
Game 1: Murray starts fast, getting a 0-30 edge but Federer battles back for the hold as the players begin to feel each other out in the early stages.
Pre-match: Good morning, everyone! The match will get started in just a few minutes. Hang with us.
