No pun intended you've taken a lot of heat. We're not winning the Daytona 500 there's even you know messages on Twitter that you. Allowed team orders to overcome your desire to win the Daytona 500. Set the record straight what happened at the end of the race. -- so here's the thing that you got to think about I'm just dumped beside myself pissed off about people slant we didn't wanna win the Daytona 500. No driver doesn't wanna win the Daytona 500 for starters number two that's the first time three cars have been broke away from the field. And with junior against my bumper wreckage field against my bumper but. His car wasn't pushing me like it had earlier in the night and we simply were pushing the seventeen car. We had no closure rate on the seventeen. And so people like he they would make a move well I try to moved up down the backstretch a little bit -- the -- -- moved over. I mean you've got to have at least a little momentum of catching the cart Friday to try and pass him and what I should have done. And didn't do. Was step on the break down the backstretch. Move off of Matt three or four car links. And then. Get the Ron had his rear bumper and the other thing this very nice about electronic fuel injection is the McLaren system records all the data. From throttle position. And break pressure. And we download the data and NASCAR has a date as well no breaks. And 100% throttle through the last two laps of the race confirmed. And they're talking about releasing the data of the top five cars all season that's something we're gonna have to wait and see if NASCAR does but we physically looked at a 100% -- no breaks for the last two laps of that race so everybody that's talking about blocking. -- You know what yeah exact -- again it. How good Delmon grid where they stop -- cars two through five and -- young junior got out of his car he went straight to your cars stuck his head in here. Your cockpit what does he say team I tell you what Dale Junior I mean right at that moment. I gain even more respect for Dale Junior than them then I had not like I didn't have a share or. He came over and asked me he said I didn't screw you up. For win in the Daytona 500 did I guess he couldn't see where the seventeen was and he didn't know if I was gonna try and pull out on him. We just didn't have the run at it but everybody knows when your bumper to bumper like we were that he could to slip outside draft by me. We couldn't get to the bumper of the seventeen car that's why couldn't make the move but Dale Junior. Was concerned whether he took my chance away. From passing the seventeen car. That make in the pass on me at the end of the race it was. Odd situation at the end or not I think I've told you before got started I heard Dale Junior say. I can't I can't go up and passed the seventeen in the sixteen and then you had Denny Hamlin Toyota out there by himself as well so it was kind of weird mix there at the very end of the race. I think all things being equal a come out of there with a third place finish going to Phoenix. Up plays we run well how important is it to get a good start. Well you know Steve it's really really important because what I remember last year going to Martinsville. 33 in points going into Martinsville two more positions I got to qualify for the race. And and now. That's because we we had gas problems that Las Vegas you know with a really fast car. Going to Phoenix now third in points I feel really really good. I'm a little disappointed about what -- everybody said about a 500. Took a little wind out of my sails but. I'm excited about our Phoenix and Agassi we got a good good cars are just seems that the injury shop a little bit ago.
