But as the 22 head coach -- Lakers franchise history Mike Brown knows the expectations are high. My goal. This to continue the course. It's the continued to help build upon. Very strong championship foundation. It has been played here already. But brown is ready for the challenge he has learned under great coaches -- will make. The best player which is Tim Duncan. -- just. Important as fifteenth player in vice Versa they don't feel like one is above and has coached great players going in with with LeBron. Maybe you know I had to establish a relationship with them. Initially and it's just a relationship of respect. Which I thought this could turn into a relationship of trust. And while his commitment to winning a championship in LA is unquestioned there was another side to Mike Brown that is just as important in his life. -- OK OK okay and it. Doesn't let. Us. This is Mike Brown. In my own words. It truly understand Mike Brown as a person and coach one must start at the beginning. And Browns beginning -- life started not too far away from where he first made his name in the MB yet. The 2009 NBA coach of the year with the Cleveland Cavaliers -- journey originated. In Columbus, Ohio. When Columbus I think we moved there maybe ten months of almost eleven months and pick from that point we moved to Japan. We weren't paying for a couple years my younger brother was born on Okinawa Japan basically right after he was born we moved to Tucson Arizona. Like in your system born in Tucson Arizona and then ten months after she was born we were off to Germany in our first stop in Germany was on air force base -- There we went around and air force base and there's a couple of different areas we may have been where Ramstein and in. Colorado Springs. Back over to Harrisburg in the Ramstein in. And that was it so it was a it was a journey how many times did you move around how many different schools that you go to and -- quite a bit and you know and that's for me that's would. Has made this life. It's easy it's it's it's tough on the family because my wife and that's really about it and obviously any time you have kids it's tough. -- for the kids but grown up in the military. Are being military brat and we moved off in the good sport about it as most of my childhood was in Germany although we moved. Quite a bit it was from one base in Germany to another and then to another so we live I think there. 445 different there at air force base that's what my dad was there and when we were in Germany and it was a great experience for me like I got Cole should at a young age and you know what I went through. I I would encourage -- for any -- tough point about it from me grown up in those periods. You know a lot a lot of the people that I -- now when they talk about going home. They go back home to a place where they grew up and they have all that high school buddies in. In -- is that that are familiar with them and all hang out and stuff like that but I don't really have it because everybody that I with a high school with. They're spread out all across the country for the most part so there's really no place like can go back to its cool. -- -- when -- -- in Germany what was yours what was it like it'd culturally you know for you how to keep it in that you were in the line which I did and I spoke -- well enough I was over there but it. Game. -- American teammates at the you know go to town. And yeah you're going to historian. In you when experts speak German so you can even better and it and which were like always ticket windows and school. -- Germans they were there or work as always wanted to learn. Our language because it was it's universal language and since -- normally speaking with something innocently. That's the thing. Saw him do that then that's where you live you know and others though -- -- conversation but. Closely it was a great that you we went a youth basketball camp in Switzerland now lives living in or Spurs at the time. In those youth basketball camp and leave things with him and myself and a couple buddies this is after -- years so hard for us. And our doctors felt it. Being over there was safe enough to put war 45 boy is it just listened to me here. On -- train and haven't traveled with excellent for about book we've been there for a week in. Way back we've missed the connection with Cutler translate called -- which he would miss this connection. When the bomb off which is train station should stay at night here like OK we'll just call us in the morning when you about you know the next train. And we did and we hung out train station -- -- had a great time and then. I -- on the train the next morning and you know so just having that culprit -- -- -- from country to country and and knowing that in my opinion they it was a extremely -- over -- -- it was an experience I'd never pass. Are so you graduate high school in Germany. But you have to go to mesa community college in Arizona right to play basketball there are okay tell me about how that happened in there and you end up going to the university San Diego's career. Well you know likes it when guys when Jeremy while I was playing American high school basketball over there. Also played some pro basketball for mentally we were in the -- division. It actually was the same club at their risky play for but. What when I played like a -- we -- in the third I could probably still go lace them up and play now they were in the third Richards so. So the bats -- was not good but I was only. Teenager on the team everybody else believed they were thrown in -- our coach was hire from Arizona. And it Ron Johnson. And -- coached professionally enough Austria a couple of the places over there and so he obviously took a liking to me especially with me being a senior in high school and and playing form and he introduced me to the coach it makes community -- Tom Bennett. And then when I got done with my senior year. That's that's where good to go and tell me about your experience at the university San Diego play basketball and it was great my high school coaches kind of pain he can -- experiences that I. Hands and they were terrific. What type of basketball players were you not know you're defensive minded coach you like physical aspect of your album we've but I. Real quick note not a good one come off. What they have it all I ask you to -- -- above not to do with it you know. Did you play. I do play that I played distorted and I had some success of the team captain politics though so it was fun I've only thing that I did know how to do very well they play or.
