This is Ken Rosenthal of foxsports.com. -- several days removed now from the home run derby. Still not sure what all the fuss was about. The criticism of the Royals fans for booing the yankees' Robinson -- for snubbing their guy Billy Butler and not selecting him to participate in the home run derby. Now was the -- over the top yes was it a bit -- absolutely and did those fans cross the line who insulted members of those family. Without question. But the basic issue. The right for fans to express themselves a -- That is it -- valuable right. In the other inalienable right is the right of fans outside of New York fans who might not like the Yankees two blue Yankee of their choice. Could help put himself on the firing line he should never been in that position simply because baseball should not forcing players to choose these teams. But that's another story. We talked about and going oh my goodness they pay their money it was relatively harmless they wanted to see their guy that's all this one's about. Now what about the future well it's a little bit of a stickier question. There's been talk of the host team having to have a mandatory participate in the home run derby. Well that is plainly ridiculous. If the team that is hosting the game does not have -- worthy participant that teams should not have participated it's as simple as that. Billy Butler is not a better home run hitter than mark trouble or anyone else think you know select. Now the one change I do like would be to take it out of the players' hands and remove them from the pressure of making these kinds of decisions. Let's face it baseball I've made this decision and not Robinson -- the Royals fans would not have had anyone to do. They simply couldn't complete the commissioner's office and that would have been that. That is the one change that I would like to see happen here it would not affect the derby one bit it would make things a little easier on the players involved.
