I -- barrel rocket is kind after another addition the NL hot corner and that we've beat on by foxsports.com senior baseball writer Ken Rosenthal to a knocked down everything happening in the National League in. Big news I guess this week the Florida Marlins get rid of their manager Freddy Gonzales. Seems like owner Jeffrey Loria sees his team one way. And the reality might be you know not quite as good how do you see this whole situation armed with -- Israel right Jeffrey Loria is over here and the rest of the baseball world is over there. No one but -- seems to think that this is a playoff type team and yet it was lawyer who said in spring training we've got all the ammunition we need. All the ammunition that 57 million dollars in payroll could -- which is not a whole lot but that is his position was his position. And -- just for whatever reason Loria and perhaps some members of his management team. Did not see Freddy Gonzales as a dynamic leader. One other people told me today that he was Vanilla. Well okay. But the team improved each year that he was there. Certainly did not appear that the manager was the problem when you've got a bullpen that already -- you 1617. Relievers. When you've got a defense that has been consistently. Below average. The offense -- -- and has been good but even the rotation behind Josh Johnson Anibal Sanchez really is not that great so. For most people in baseball there about where they should be. But wasn't good enough lower and Freddy Gonzales describe the way handle that Hanley Ramirez situation of a star player manager who seemed to be losing power but he stood his ground and I think that's gonna do him well. Down alive he'll be working at a Major League Baseball no question and whether it's as the manager of the -- next year which is the big. Rumor in the big belief by a lot of people he comes from that staff that family. And Bobby Cox of course is retiring or whether he's simply a bench coach somewhere else a manager in waiting yeah it's going to be one of the other. And he is a guy that will get another chance should get another chance. Might not be the most dynamic guy in the world he might not -- Bobby Valentine and it is not a Cox well neither is Bobby -- exactly right in certain guys can learn on the job he learned from his first day I was last -- yeah. He's got a chance. Well you mention Bobby Valentine. I think if you're Loria and you eat you -- the -- get rid of a guy like Charles has been successful. You gotta bring an impact guy and it seems like all signs -- -- to Bobby -- -- no question about that Barry. All signs of -- point to Bobby -- basically since last year at the end of the season when Loria nearly -- ready at that point. For Bobby date. Clearly this is a personality at the different end of the spectrum from Freddy Gonzales the opposite end. Bobby V is a magnetic individual he is definitely driven definitely great baseball man with a ton of knowledge brilliant strategic manager. His personality can be a little big for some people but. As they get ready to move into their new stadium he's the guy that they're going to market around and he's going to be the center of everything with the Marlins and for them it probably is Victoria the stage and and on the Japanese players have flocked to his flew it flew in Japan -- any slot to South Florida and a blocked an obvious that haven of Japanese culture of South Florida. Let's talk about another team the Phillies. If you feel like the Phillies are struggling and you look at their record at 567 games over 500 and other attorney Jimmy Rollins got as a real difference maker. Is he -- a lot of what they need to overtake the Braves and -- who by the way are both haven't fantastic absolutely. They definitely need him it's definitely good for them that he is back but. He is one guy and while he is a catalyst for them offensively defensively and on the bases. If Ryan Howard and Chase Utley but isn't worth don't perform the way that they're capable and they -- recent weeks that the Phillies are going to struggle. And in many ways they remind me of some Yankee teams of recent past that knew that they were good. Just kind of -- the times of the regular season and had this feeling. Hey we can turn it up at any time. Not that he's and the Phillies have seen that it's not that easy but the word you hear around them is complacency. It into the World Series back to back years now perhaps with Rollins back. We'll get going again seems like a guy who that'll light a fire at will light a fire that that's his personality Phillies right now twentieth in the major leagues in batting average seventeenth. In runs scored. Guys taken baseball by storm and we knew I mean all the hype is there any wanna see if you can live up to a but I think you watch his first couple starts he thinks. Okay this is why the hype is there because the talent is there. Stephen strasburg personal your thoughts out of secondly this kind of brewing controversy will hear will not make the All-Star team. Well first my favorite line on him comes from John Smoltz and this was from Nationals Park. Right after he finished his first start Johnny called for a movie network -- covering it as a writer for our website. And he said that night talking about the height. That strasburg super exceeded the unacceptable. And while it might not be perfectly here this -- -- so. As for the All-Star team now obviously that we both work for fox and has a vested interest in fox having strasburg on the All-Star team and perhaps increase -- ratings but. The bottom line it's. This game is about marketing the sport to a degree. It's the players and it's for the facts and based on what we've seen from attendance for television ratings people want deceased beat Stephen strasburg pitch and from the other element not just the market. But from the competitive element. Which is of course in this game significant because it has a stake winner gets home field advantage for the World Series. Why wouldn't Charlie Manuel and Nash yeah after want this guy coming out of the ball and throw under coach to me even though. By that time Ohio only seven starts. That's not a lot. I still think he should be there -- troubles in 200312. Starts going into the All-Star game. Granted the difference of five but when you have a phenomenon it needs Hewitt is a drive that time no question about it and if Charlie Manuel leaves him off. There's always the fan vote in -- put five names on -- -- right now there's no way the fans are are voting for anyone mistrust that's great point he would win the fan vote. -- so looks like you'll be seeing Stephen strasburg and Anaheim come a middle July all right that is that Ken Rosenthal we always appreciate him stopped by -- Don't forget foxsports.com has you covered. For all your baseball needs for can. -- -- --
