I when I'm Brian -- welcomed him hoaxes -- I'm pleased to be joined by college basketball analyst John -- and were at the superdome in New Orleans. Getting ready for the national championship game between Kentucky. At Kansas and John in the national semi finals. Anthony Davis had the most dominant performance by a big man here at the final four since Danny Manning fittingly at Kansas in 1988 how to -- I'll try to slow him down. This is a tough one because you look at the stats I mean eighteen points fourteen rebounds and five blocks. And you have to look at this -- go where can I slow down what can I do to effect him. In at least one way. And I and I think what Courtney Zheng did very well was put pressure -- -- him -- the defense event. So it didn't allow him to get more blocked shots and in many ways it's boxing now. So he doesn't have a chance to block that they drive the penetration. So I think that's one thing they may be able to do because he's -- Kentucky just shares the ball way too well. They share the ball too well he's gonna get chances to score he's gonna get chances to rebound the basketball mean twelve rebounds and defense eventually get two offensive rebounds I think. -- did -- did a great job keeping him off the glass that's going to be an obvious what. Keep him off the offensive glass make him at least earn everything on the offensive side we're really. Don't let him impact your drive and that's gonna be touched on Taylor who had a lot of success. In the earlier game they've played this year. We have done this game is a rematch Kentucky beat Kansas in the second game of the year for bowl teams. Played at a neutral site in November at Madison Square Garden does that game have any bearing on this it well. Don't really think it has any Berrian and these are two different teams that played it back there and in this months ago. And really mean this is a Kansas team that at that point -- never would have imagined would be playing for a final four they were just happy to be in the game against Kentucky who is highly touted in the top. Since the start of the season so I also was a Kansas team that didn't have their identity sick yet I think their identity is allowing tight Sean Taylor to be more of a two guard. -- a point guard at that point they relied heavily upon him going to the basket and trying to generate offense for himself. Thomas Robinson isn't it wasn't playing as well as he could play Jeff with a really wasn't even in the mix at that so now I think Kansas is a much more herb. Dynamic team. They really are able to do much more they go deeper on the bench and Kentucky they've all developed in many ways I mean they've developed her offensive game. They've developed with each other where they share the ball they spread the ball around and really get a lot of guys involved and that's -- -- -- some tough. Let's dissect another factor in 2008 Bill Self guided Kansas to a national championship by. Beating this Memphis team coached by John Calipari in the popular perception of the time was self help coach -- A popular perception even if it's true. First off I think it's forgotten I don't think John -- bring that to the table I don't think he's got a chip on his shoulder about that. John Calipari had a you're very young team at that time to but it was a young team that really didn't do what Kentucky does so well Kentucky defense the ball very well. They don't give up easy baskets they have a big guy and Anthony Davis. That keeps people from getting to the rim that's something that they didn't have at Memphis. -- it was a Kansas team that was very loaded guy and Mario Chalmers who hit big shot after big shot down the stretch. We don't know where that's gonna come from Kansas right now because -- Taylor he's been struggling this entire NCAA tournament. So I look at this Kentucky team in this Kansas team to scallop -- team and his Bill Self team it's a similar Bill Self team not sure where the stars gonna come from. Where the big shots gonna come from if it's needed. But Kentucky it can come from about eight different spots. One more footnote let's not forget John Calipari started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at. K okay let's wrap it up -- -- prediction we've picking to win the national Jets. Well I've got to stick with the team that just does it all right acting John calpers finally gets that elusive first national championship. And in many ways. It justifies the way he utilizes the culture of college basketball we talk about the one and done rule and he's really just played it up he says hey come play for me. I'll teach you basketball for a year will win I'll improve your draft stock. And he does it. And I think this year he's had the best teams got the most talent. And for some reason he gets these guys to play they play together. On the defensive -- they play together and on the offensive -- they share the ball and see such unselfish play from so many stars from guys that are really. Just trying to play one year college basketball used to you get those guys to come in they wanna get their numbers up improve their draft stock and get out. And this year it's not that way you got five or six guys that really know how to play to play well together yet to land with the experience Terrence Jones who really hasn't even shown up yet. With the experience and I think you're gonna see. Kentucky walk away with a win. Whomever wins it's going to be a big time match up here in the Big Easy as always we appreciate the inside stuff we have -- -- -- -- as you covered Troy your college basketball needs for John Crist and I'm Bryan Webber. We'll see you next time.
