Hi I'm Laura and welcome to this Olympic roundtable presented by out -- garden drive and -- two for 25 dollar Italian dinner tonight at olive garden. When your hear your family I'm joined now by our family of olympians Christian lightning Dominique Dawes Maurice Greene. Amy Van -- and I was under the impression until recently that olympians are created equal. Funny there's a bit of a hierarchy I think this segment is gonna quickly turn into three against one -- I want -- it is not here. Who like to started off until we with the hierarchy ends when it comes to and the -- -- started I had a feeling you absolutely solid you know in the Summers were always on -- are always in the Olympic village were not venture outside. That we -- so envious of people get to stay outside of the village so we look at the track athletes -- they are on a pedestal that being said. That basketball team that we need to have the queen here so it's from the -- -- -- that's about the only thing that where it. I get like she and caddie are regret it. The rumors the rumors or would you like to say -- campaigning -- you have. I think it's totally understandable why the -- players you know right -- please me. When you got magic Johnson and Larry Bird and Michael Jordan and that team in 92. That was the unique bunch of guys it was it would be tough to throw them in the Olympic village them to have any type of privacy or get rest -- trainer if you like that so. I don't know about every Summer Olympics they have to treat the best both seem like that but that 92 team was pretty special. And that he'd just answer the question because. All of the athletes well. Sounds. All. Some track -- do stay in the village but they still have to deal with those things. People bothering him people coming to them and in erupting there a time of trying to your wrists or you get ready for there. Olympic Games so he just answered it right there mean. Yes you have those guys who get the special treatment. And the reason why they do so they can concentrate and anything else but everybody else or is in the Olympic -- trying to prepare themselves for the same thing. We'll tennis we can do little special treatment is well on their champagne and caviar for us but. From my -- Olympics we did not see in the Olympic village for two of them in 96 in 2000 we stayed. Outside the Olympic village and even had our own training facility still I'm sure you guys have that is well. Where you had your own courts and you could you know practice all hours of the day and all hours of the night but I definitely say that the best team from. This like the -- that question because I want to ask you then. Now looking back. Do you wish you would've stayed in the village looking back did you feel like you were getting an Olympic experience where you like everyone else in all of all of -- with the eleven NBA hall of famers. The one college player I'm not sure where one of -- -- -- dream team went through a fake. Well I have personally I wish I would have stayed in the Olympic village just experience the entire thing I was in the goodwill games and I was in the and -- games on Cuba in 91. So I got that experience pretty good but I think that's only half of the world. And the Olympic villages just. That serves in terms of fun I've I've heard. They didn't put us there in Barcelona and that's fine. I was part of a team where they couldn't be in there but. Imagine you I think guy I got a taste of the entire Olympic experience it's lately but I did miss out something about not being in. That that's why I and I we're chatting earlier and for my first Olympics in 92 a seat in the Olympic village and we got to meet and we both vividly. Remember that experience and I remember as an athlete -- village is a bit of a distraction and Amy and I were chatting. Before about -- -- that's going on and so it's good to feel that Olympic experience in the village but. He can concentrate a lot easier I think for me personally. When I stayed out of the Olympic village. Mean it would be a distraction you know. It. Was control. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- So for me I would not as much as I am I would have liked. It because for me that would have been more distractions. But I -- I think that Michael wary when it really enjoyed it is nothing on the other yeah. Any well. Yeah. Yeah yeah. Up. Is there. It's funny look at the -- you know where it's almost like you're sitting -- but now let's get it. Out here. Someone archery -- they would go seriously it's useful like going to be talking. About real sports stars so. You'd like to be repeated errors Davidson's. Don't you know on the other athletes you all came as the stars. Everybody was cloudy to get around you -- you want to. But he was trying to piece. From. -- -- both experiences. Because. When I was getting ready for my hundred meter race I've stayed out so I can concentrate but. And I got ready for the relay. I came back with the rest of my teammates stayed in the village because it's. It's a different thing so we have to be on the team from runners so. -- being in the Olympic village yes I'm in my room and and people are coming up to the USA house all the time is is -- he's doing is noisy and I'm a nice guy lied to you know go out there and I'll take the pitches and Simon are accessible but -- only does tend to be a lot. I. -- I on. I hope you have fun because this is one of many many that we will be doing the next month thank you for insights that we expected some of that we did not -- you very much. They keep on gotten here that's gonna do for this Olympic roundtable presented by outlook -- -- to the 2.5 dollar -- I ended it tonight and olive garden and your family are Utley Amaro and the next.
