You know so when you get to this time a year ago I think the one thing you'd like to do is. It's just as consistent as you get and and yet I'm a pretty Providence. Got a few years under my belt but what really you know you have a big game with Michigan new arrival on Sunday and and I think Penn State -- Pat's done a great job with this team they're competitive they beat -- Purdue and Illinois. And they're worried but that that there records -- at nine company haven't. You know you know your players is a trap game a little bit -- -- house statement on the corner. It's understandable you know we get up a little bit missiles start we played pretty well. To get a twenty point lead and then just you know don't stay as consistent and at this time a year. As -- -- apparent through the end of the regular season hopefully the tournament. You know you get into that kind of went one. -- five minute stretch can cause you -- in either for a chance to win your league championship review the tournament championship or. In the NCAA tournament so. That's that's the only thing I was hoping -- a little more consistency but. It wasn't bad that we protect 32 minutes body in the and bad minutes we played. They really took advantage of. We mentioned it spartans got off to a little bit of a slow start you had Duke in North Carolina right out the gate which obviously isn't the easiest way to start your schedule but I remember watching. The the Carolina game and it was in San Diego on the carrier it I think is the USS Carl -- just. From an aesthetic standpoint Tom it was so spectacular to see on TV could talk a little bit about. Your experience with that particularly for as many young kids as you have on your team. Terrible in those seats and you know we got there it was like eye opening for me you know. I spent a couple of different trips to a week and spent some time ordered troops and that's useful things started. And but then to actually get on the ship. And see what's going on and ticket to a room with a two days before and that was awesome but. In the event you know and we have to be an hour and a half earlier there was some different things but. When your warm it up -- the process that they're -- And your players and you know magic and every. In other movie stars there were people there and most of our pro guys came back can. Or in the audience and that's setting in now with San Diego in the background and which is incredible. And so I always said you know our first two games through there and and Madison Square Garden on. That might change yes he's you know nine and forcibly and with the at least former players he had so our freshman. Quarterback at Celtic played with the president of fifty yards and played lift. -- Madison square garden and and I think that helped us you know that's one of the battle cries. Today's practice would be -- probably you know big game big stage -- guys have been there before you -- on these stages. I know get a final with a with a 11 of these pages. Brennan Dawson is one of your freshman to really seems to be stepping up and the last few games you're getting double digit production out of them now where have you seen. His greatest progress. He's. You know he's a McDonald's all American but he was kind of inside player in high school and you know what valleys of three man and and -- had to make adjustments and not a great shooter yet but. -- I learned dubious last year that the war as an -- comparable offensive rebounder. Just -- stellar talent and he's just started -- around the court arteries start over and slashed to the basket he's. He's a local jumper which means to get up court. And he can miss a shot to get its own rebound and I just kind of have a feel the only -- I was serving for over thirteen and and six or seven rebounds down the last five or six games and I think really spurred -- into his own so. He's -- You know all. Big. Live for us lately and they're seeking continue its gonna make us better team by the end of this month. And hit a little bit of -- and rough patch keep battling your point guard how did you help him work through that. You know he -- it is inevitable it is became the first five games of the Big Ten and then. -- you know I think a combination of things happened. Like -- shooting touch a little bit. I think he's started that you but he's been here a year and a half gives it to guard last year. And not -- everything I think started forcing it a little bit and took a couple bad shots in -- one game we lost by want and and pretty much Green went down in the Illinois game grip and it obviously you know those are the only two guys have any real playing experience. And and I think he's put -- on his shoulders but. I think very easy thing to do execute it worked as weird as Islam it is. He's the hardest working -- I -- so everything in practice he works and he does the next time on his game and you know which is sitting down and I think -- would kids to do when they go through slumps and players. And it was a -- of four games swamped. You know I I don't think they want to admit it. And so you know how you play OK you know it's not an awful. -- reality check. Let's get it out like me alcoholic has to do you know it just talk about -- it looked. You are playing bad but let's figure out why you're playing bad and once they get cut off their chest I think that's what right did I just part of a couple nights and I am a little -- It's been a little -- them. And and it realize it is the better players that you do. And it. Come through some bad moments elements that it would increase have become ultra practice in congress that's as much former guys and have those guys start to -- little bit. Defense and rebounding first week is young of the team is you have. How do you convince them to buy into that principle when you know all these kids come out of college and it's like how many points can drop. -- -- -- you hit the nail on the head and you know Branden Dawson is it is a prime example. You know because he had trouble -- look at on campus to try to find somebody that he -- guard or. A public on some guys that. You don't ever played basketball but Kia. He has really started the body and that's what I do all the time is at beginning of the year I was take. You know with the football champions whether the and so in the NFL the year before college I take -- and I take a baseball and I. And I take a basketball in 90% of the time you know the team that. Defend the best turns it over the least generally look at Alabama this year you know the end it's football you look at. You know even the Giants don't mean I had like two tickets to giants' -- -- the best defense and -- it's party it's always that way baseball you know. So that's what I'd do it naturally so that in yet. What we've done and as we've done an incredible job putting young team have been really did defensively we're still a great rebounding team. That the defense has helped our offense now you know we're pushing the ball we're. Second and third in the league infield gold 3.2 percentage so. I don't know how that's Japanese money but. Not a wake up problem that the dream last a little longer as we've been we've been doing a pretty solid job of both. Now you are doing a solid job defensively so much so that -- only been two opponents this year that a shot better than 50% so let's bring Ohio State into the picture now. Got a couple of guys who can score. What would you rank his year top concerns as you head to Columbus Saturday. What can we just keep but the competition we're having -- and. So we don't understood if -- waivers -- stay right here. -- Ohio State. Has been you know one of the best. Offensive teams in our league as far as for a couple years -- There are we shooting around 50% don't take a lot of bad shots they have very good spacing. And it always had a big center you know I mean now the state of Ohio. Has ticked me off because it seemed I probably got -- from Indiana but. All those other guys you know -- guys like that it just kind of come out of that stayed in. Challenges may be one of the best for the ball he subjected Q it is. How do you defend him -- You know we don't double a lot where a lot of people do we just kind of trying to force some off the block and Begin with their guards a little bit. And that's what I was still either but. But you know. If you do defend him and so it off so much -- -- got to deal with Buford who right now is shoot the ball as close as anybody in our league and I think you know he's a guy. Those guys are gonna come -- last year and so. Very very good players in and both of them very good guys Kevin craft. -- -- -- Together you know it and then what they've done is to Thomas can't it was a great -- skipped last year. And had a very average year as really blossomed into something you're in pretty short and shooting he's become better. So. Probably. Each guy has his specific role on that team and they played their rules very very well.
