Hi there I'm Laura -- man it's time for another edition of the hot corner -- thrilled to be doing but -- boats dot com senior baseball writer Ken Rosenthal -- at the white facts have been playing well lately and Kevin Youkilis appears to be just popular in Chicago. As it was in Boston are the Sox the favorites in the AL Central. Florida. Let's start off here by looking at run differential at the stat at all indicates the team's overall strength. Well the White Sox are plus 61 -- scored 61 more runs than they've allowed. And they are the only eighteen in the AL central with a positive run differential. So -- to me that would indicate that they're the favorite. You know -- question a lot of people about this team is the number of rookies -- and at this point. Ten rookies out of 45. But the White Sox are getting terrific performances out of their veterans need to have bounced back seasons -- -- In most of those rookies have performed rather well. And down -- Youkilis has given boasts so what do they say. As they approach the deadline well they obviously could use a little bit and work experience and apple and Matt Thornton -- the only better. But at the same time. Not sure that the competition -- that it is all that good. The Tigers well thirteen and a lot of us expected played better in the second half he certainly can be expected to make a move or two. But the Indians another team with a negative run differential while I expect them also to be aggressive -- just such -- -- that they can stay with the White Sox. The White Sox avoid further injuries they've got -- homer on the DL. If they keep playing at a high level so yes right now Laura I do like Chicago. Cardinals righthander Chris Carpenter season officially ended on Tuesday he's undergoing surgery to repair nerve issue in his right shoulder. How concerned the Saint Louis about carpenter's future can't. -- -- -- Obviously concerned about that because Chris Carpenter is not going to pitch again this season you know -- know exactly how come back from the surgery. But they're more immediate concern of course is their rotation for this season. Remember they've already got -- Garcia on the DL. They're getting reasonably consistent performances out of Wainwright -- Westbrook and Lance led of course has had an all star first half. But this is a pitching staff that is still evolving. It is possible but not certain that Lance Lynn will move to the bullpen at some point in the second half if you begin to show signs -- -- The rookie Joseph Kelly also could end up in the bullpen. Right now the Cardinals are looking for another starting pitcher and probably another reliever to. I would not expect their step on August 1 a look the same as it looks right. Now meanwhile the Dodgers injury woes continue LA placed on -- here on the fifteen day DL with a strained oblique muscle and Dee Gordon dislocated his thumb. How does this impact the Dodgers. They don't help lower and his team it just got Mark Ellis back and they lose eight years and now the question about Gordon. Who frankly has been a guy raising a lot of questions of late. Some of their people -- don't believe that his instincts and all that good he's still very young player. This is a team that obviously needs campaign eat your back and as soon as possible and expect apple will return sometime after the all star break. So the Dodgers appear to know whether this colossal one had a horrible stretch culminating in this series with the Mets. But he can hit it back in first place at least as of Thursday night and it remains to be seen just how good Giants are as well. I'd like the Giants an awful lot but when the doctors get healthy he should be quite a race. I would have -- again thanks for the insight. Don't forget fox sports that god has you covered for all your baseball leagues for Ken Rosenthal I'm lower open meant a -- expect.
