And now it's time for lunch can benefit. This weekend coach speak presented by the GMC never say never moment of the week. But you have done the impossible interim head coach Romeo Cornell join it's -- -- -- team can beat the Packers. The Falcons have a -- Great Mike Smith looked ahead to the marquee matchup. Linebackers. This week -- 101. Our coach they presented by the GMC never say never moment of the week. Welcome coach speak for that but you have a never say never move of the week coming up Mike Smith gets ready for the things. We showed how running back protect their quarterback. We show -- how to federal mobile quarterback Philip 101. How revealed this week's never say never moment of the week. Right now let's welcome in cheese head coach Romeo crew now. First off from a got to congratulate to what a great win I gotta tell yeah I would say it was fun to watch your team and your reaction after a big win just -- the pure joy if you when your team. Brian that was exciting. Just played hard the whole game be executed the game plan. And do come out with a victory I think everybody was -- will related. Coach tell us about -- when you became the interim coach you have a very short period of time. -- now you have to. Reset the mind that of your team tell me about physically your practice structure and emotionally. What the priorities were in terms of how you were going to get your team ready for the game. Wanted to thank the I want to do was just rearrange the schedule. We've been lifting in the morning and and then. I decided to move the lifting until after practice so we can have a little bit more time in the meeting room. That meant to players that will be -- -- time here in the building but down. I'm a great floor because it's not like it might help -- enough so what we do we do that. And the other than we didn't change the structure of remarks are totals -- tomorrow playing the way that we felt like we need to play to give ourselves the best chance. Do you is is the changes you've made obviously there were the reasons for that part of it is and also just. Just change for change sake to give them something to hang their hat on to say okay were under a little different and if that can make a difference. We're just trying to -- won't change for change shape because. They're going to let you know everything you're saying. You know they gonna get a little stale sometimes but when you do changed things that keeps them floor you have to think a little bit more and so I think that worked -- -- -- Well again had dead -- -- to come over your face as well as you see some of the things transpiring I was in Oakland for the Detroit Oakland game. And you saw some of the things happening in your division obviously with the Denver losing Oakland losing. And all of a sudden as unlikely as it sounds you guys are still in the thick of it back. That is right and you know what I talked -- these guys earlier in the year room. What we had little winning streak going about getting ourselves back in the race and in trying to position ourselves. So we had a chance at the end and the way it turned out we lost some games and didn't really think we have the chance. But Byron Byron yesterday in the little things happen our -- -- -- and -- and now we have to do is take your business and looks like that out. We might be able to make it. -- terms of particularly when you're playing a team in being a team that is going for the undefeated team that has played as well as the Green Bay Packers. These are the Green Bay Packers. I can't think of about a scenario where you can in front of the team and say why not us if this is the best team in the NFL. And with their car record there's no -- -- say that they're not. Why not us. Well exactly the thing we've talked to them about as they we got -- ability on this team. And the best team in the league is coming -- -- play up to our ability and then we'll see what happens. Yeah yeah you're now obviously as you finish it out you're you're talking about within the division and that's great that you get to play within the division. Took into account support talk about what it is to come back and play an opponent for the second time in this circumstance. Well you don't always an employer employer for the second time. You have Logan or knowledge of them and I think this helplessly on the short week every down this week -- -- -- played Saturday after don't. And they have to come to our place them here and hit it becomes tough to play at times. You know the Raiders and your -- you're beat up on us pretty good. I'm reminded our team that so what we have to do is we have put a lot of focus and energy into our preparation. And then we have to play as well off if not better than we played against -- -- That violent talk about obviously Kyle Orton and and what he has brought your team your decision in starting him obviously he played very very well what are the qualities about him that you felt like we're going to be the difference starting him. While he has good leadership qualities and abilities. Are plus brand last year we went up there to Denver reclaim -- little slow. Hope -- nobody can beat who played pretty good -- and I just felt like on our team. We needed to changed girls -- I'm able to score overrated points not that we score line yesterday but don't. I think -- Angels and possibly change for our team. I coach congratulations look forward to watching out heads up. Our record's not great. One of the most important things are running back as the game has nothing to do with running the football. Ollie Wilson of the Chargers shows as a running back responsibilities. On a pass and play. Coach I think one of the most difficult things to executed teach is for running back and passed for. Your disadvantage. Like the tide and offensively -- we've got this tight close quarter combat. Worry we've got some separation -- gives me some latitude I didn't sound like a bull -- school over the top ranked tell me what you teach in terms of pass rush against rushing outside linebacker defensive. Welcome to really think our our commitment to pass protection start from day one really he basically. Run games. We start for him and our pregame get ready for the week. We are looking at what approach and things and and it went approach. At. The second thing now out and who -- defenders out but it can. -- study and what kind of rush technique. Boris and -- whatever that may be. But it thing is that we always talk about leverage on him leverage in an inning -- points. We have a quarterback. -- what what you're trying to protect a three step drop to buy him out of winter and protected. And always taken in leverage on that. Let's say it's a five step drop and Palestinians their defense has been in the 34 on rod my James Harrison may be Woodley. And and I like to jump to the outside corner to -- protrude from this taking. -- step drop where you're gonna set. Okay in my first I -- I wanna try articles that cushion as much as like him. But I don't want I want on the day and at the point of contact I wanna be stationary wanna be run and that's ships pass in the night world and he's going to be able beat me. Are always wanna take him -- leverage and I'm never ever. Wanted to go outside straight. I can take it and -- it doesn't always give him back out on an side wrote out wanna take out -- as I closed the question and I'm position dominant and I'd leverage point. Where I've got my hands and the most important things I've got my ugly. He's not -- through that I'm not gonna give that up at the moment in my election he's gonna -- in mind I'd leverage. I want to keep you off form sleep so it now he start to pin or you start to come -- and I didn't I got a chance takedown tournament control with that and I'd arm. And that position. We tell our players is we're gonna have to -- out I'd tackle where we wanna have we can get it out there. An -- that situation that much more they've got to close cushion. The Falcons are right in the thick of things in the NFC playoff picture right now we're joined by Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith. Coach -- now over the weekend which you had an opportunity to do because you played on Thursday it had to be fun for you to watch all the upheaval going on. In the league and particularly in the NFC as it pertains to you. Well Brian it was in interest seeing that I thought they don't sit there and the basement and it's channel surfing watch all the different games and I got there were some different outcomes not the ones that everybody expected. Well it's it's always the -- that that. You know how do you feel about being in at ten at three or 113 well what did I win the 111 that I lose the three. Obviously your team playing well right now you're going to go Monday night game with a very good nor on any team I've done a couple of those games. That is a knock down drag out slugfest. Well is it should be Bryan know we're very familiar with those guys and I think they're playing the best football in the in the whole entire league right now. Through his really operate extremely well and they've got so many weapons they can attack you so many different levels it's going to be a big challenge but. We're looking forward to it and when. These two teams get the other it's always fun. Yeah when you look at this match up -- that familiarity. With one another we talked about it many times you are so familiar with one another seems like choice playing late in the he's neither of the last game of the next to the last game. Talk a little bit about your mentality -- coached that the agent process. Before when you played these guys you've made could be a possibly a controversial decision when to go port. Tell me about the previous games that you played and how that alters your thinking now playing in the -- Well -- just trying to appreciate. That -- -- out there -- probably controversial. Book that that didn't work it was. Eric not a -- but. You know you you. You know these guys' eyes very well they know us very well so it's really gonna come down for us to go out and out and execute in. We've got some knowledge in the back of our -- just like they do in terms of what's gonna happen in certain situations so. I think it's important Bryant for us. To really do a good job in evaluating. What we've done well against these guys than in the past and you know this week. We know it's going to be a very hostile environment so communication. Especially on the offensive side of football at -- super important. Where when you've played them in the past it seems like fewer advantages to make it a physical game you can get your running game cranked up. And put it on those terms that clearly where you wanna be. Well no doubt we wanna be able to control line of scrimmage. And set the tempo by running the football and it. If you can control line of scrimmage in possessed the football and not turn it over we feel like that's buying into the game and controlling the line of scrimmage also involved that's protecting our quarterback because you're gonna have to throw the ball. They're very good at loading the box when they have to stop the run they can you know baking committed enough people would you do that maybe they do than we've got to be able to. Taking you know advantage of that in the past. When you're traded up to get Julio Jones it was all about getting that that explosive player that skill set that he brings the table. I think we saw that last week on your Thursday night game. And the ability to impact the game with a big plays that obviously is going to be a big factor like you say if they're gonna load up the box. You have that additional weapon to make them pay. Well we've been very pleased with the way that Julio is played for us this season -- -- and everything that we anticipated he would be able to do he has made us more explosive we've had. Twenty 120 or more explosive plays. Already through fourteen games and we had all last year so. It's been something that we knew that we had to improve on and as we get into the end this season and I hope we plan on into the second season it's going to be important that we can create those explosive. Hartford coach congratulations on the win it that you make it an exciting going down the way. What we're looking forward to it the next that two week is going to be. Great great games there's a lot of the big games all across not only -- NC but if the I don't we've bumper way to watch. -- -- -- -- -- -- Time for this week's GMC never say never moment of the week comedies with interim head coach Romeo Cornell Kyle Orton making his first start. The Kansas City Chiefs managed and the Green Bay Packers wanted to perfect season. Orton out -- Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Cornell became just the third interim head coach in NFL history to defeated undefeated team. With nine plus win. Our second avenue at the Indianapolis Colts who picked up our first win of the season. Quarterback and -- philosophy to a touchdown pass to wide receiver Reggie Wayne and then threw a key block on the game clinching eighty yard touchdown run by running back. Bob Brown. With a 2713. Victory over the Tennessee Titans the Colts not only avoided history also dealt a devastating blow to the Titans playoff hopes. To check out the third never say never moment of the week nobody invoke your favorite go to GMC dot com slash never saying never. Michael Vick rolls out pocket cause headaches for linebackers in this week's -- 101. Cowboys linebacker coach Matt Huber flute shows how he teaches -- backers to capable mobile quarterback in check. There. Games -- week so one group silent actors are well coached terms of the quarterback breaks contain them. Watching him I'd guys act -- getting to their landmarks and talk about it -- accuracy responsibility and work is pretty contained. In our bootleg and so if we get more action this way quarterback here he's -- so play action. And he's on here and run the ball way okay. The linebacker race here because he's on the front side. He's probably going to be caught and watch OK he's gotten -- -- -- -- -- and threw an an -- he got -- -- responsibility now you're gonna get this over now. -- get by the why we get it by the emotion in close and and get. Why we're going to run oh okay. But the biggest thing with his back and he has time to do this okay threes and it was -- -- Ron. I want to boo you it was a bit flat reads OK my office -- And what we do that as we have we hit the break. We like to do this in in zone turned back to the quarterback we think he is a couple of extra steps. Okay now if you get too far and I hear he can be -- okay man turn that -- okay. But we like the idea -- don't turn. Okay here in an already as a running shoulder there and you finally OK now -- -- -- maximum that typically happens about. You know between fifteen and these are different you know eighteen yards for us on the numbers. We -- and it's over somebody's way -- -- get -- out there OK or you can get a situation like this with this -- -- out okay and the guys that emotion and close and you natural -- that. Same thing. I'm here. Don't turn it okay fine -- and find okay who wouldn't faze him up and you wrong with. If you're low -- okay in his random spot. On the spot 1518 -- and. In this week's Billick rant it's very personal because -- had to do with me in the suppose an interest of the Miami Dolphins job. It's amazing in this business now all of a sudden a couple comments such as well you never say never as a coach. And yeah you're always gonna be interest in what could possibly come together with regards to coaching. A team particularly a marquee franchise like the Miami Dolphins. And yes I've met Stephen Ross one time couple years ago when I was writing the book more than a game and now all of a sudden the -- telephone game that is the media right now all of a sudden. They've interviewed me -- talk of that Ross were all over it just doesn't happen at adjusting the Hal this is played out as we go forward the coaching market you draw from three areas. Obviously the coordinator market that won't happen till after the season's over and even after the playoffs -- coordinators come available the college coaches even that is a small field. -- friends and Iowa is a named a lot of people are talking about he has taken helped off the market he's a college coach that's considerable and it felt background. Less miles an -- Hughes made it pretty clear he's gonna data LSU. And so that leaves you with a former head coaches particularly those of wanna Super Bowl like myself. Bill -- Jon Gruden. Tony Dungy -- -- made it clear Tony Dungy made it clear he's not coming back and coach. Bill -- has kind of made it clear saying I have no plans and coaching next year that does leave the window open it Jon Gruden -- -- you don't know what he's going to do at the end of the day as you go through this -- as I would go with the -- believe half of what you -- and nothing of what you hear it becomes -- usual suspects sort of being hit it to see how this thing pans out in terms of what jobs go where there's going to be a lot of them. They're gonna be some looking for experienced coaches -- not each of them in the NFL a job in the NFL is always just right. By that I mean if for any worse she would take it every better would be available so it will -- to how this pans out but believe only about half of what's -- read. I don't do it for this week's episode of coach -- presented by the GM hey never say never moment of the week go to weigh -- on some subjects we talk about each week. It's -- -- like Twitter handle pats coach bill. Pictured it to in his next Tuesday for another great show. Have a good week everyone's. -- --
