I'm Brian Billick you were taking a division by division look at how each of these teams within the divisions. Help themselves via the draft and free agency. And how they stack up within the division. -- talk about the AFC west in the same view Chargers clearly along with the Dallas Cowboys maybe one of the most talented teams in the NFL. Along with the choice of Alou aloof from Jacksonville. Probably had the biggest surprise of the draft when they took Ryan Matthews moved up to the twelfth spot. Traded with Miami to get Ryan Mathews someone that -- to be many people thought would be a late first round pet. But when you're as talented as the San Diego Chargers Ryan Matthews gives -- big. Physical presence of running back that they lost when we lost Michael Turner to free agency to Atlanta couple years ago. Now can match him with Darren Sproles. At the running back position obviously to augment what you're doing with Philip Rivers. Even though it may have been a bit of a reach to move up to get a player like Ryan Mathews. They clearly addressed what they thought was their number one priority there with a 31 team in rushing last year. And that's not something Norv Turner wants to do so they get the rushing attack back up to speed to go with the productivity at Philip Rivers that talent group receivers. They got done with the draft what they wanted to get done. The Denver Broncos and clearly this is a total redesign by the Denver Broncos. Josh McDaniels basically cut loose anybody and everybody that had a major impact. Under the Mike Shanahan years they've drafted some very interest in players the -- Thomas the wide receiver from Georgia Tech. Hasn't got a lot of experience Tim Tebow the quarterback much talked about Kenny make the transition in the NFL. -- Beatles and offensive tackle that probably is gonna move to center or guard from the university you -- three outstanding high character. Very intelligent players now the question is their talent and transition into the NFL and can Josh McDaniels bring this town together enough. To put Denver back into winning -- and get them back in the playoffs. In this just his second year. Kansas City Chiefs again with a Q along with the St. Louis Rams probably the Cleveland Browns. The Buffalo Bills were a team that. No matter what they picked they were gonna get better because they have so many needs. Actually had an outstanding draft I thought Eric berry. Although its safety and it's a little are very take a safety with the picked. Fifth pick of the draft were -- it's changing to a lot of three of four wide offense you're tied yours does safety has to be able. To cover the very talent tight ends in the league right now. Eric berry could do that along with -- Earl Thomas that came out of the University of Texas made the top two secondary picked. Coming out this draft are very interesting pick in -- a cluster are running back slash wide receiver along the mode nobody may be Percy -- That we saw Minnesota last year. Out of the University of Mississippi this a very explosive. Running back slash receiver that they can use a lot of different ways. And I think Charlie Weis obviously looking for me multiple ways now. To sport they're pro quarterback Cassel. To see if things get more often to productivity and then on the back end Javier Arenas are good solid pick from Alabama at quarter to help the defense of side the ball. That brings us to the Oakland Raiders and actually the Oakland Raiders probably had as a subdued. Well orchestrated. Not surprising draft as they've had a long time a lot of people thought they would reach they ended up with a very solid presence inside with -- Rolando McClain from the University of Alabama. The much heralded. Team leader of that national championship team. They've got a real good presence on the inside they ended up with more defense so help with Lamarr Houston and offensive tackle very gifted needs some development. In Jared bar here. From Hillsdale College a small school huge athlete huge upside and Bruce Campbell. And offensive linemen may be again a freakish athlete along with Jason Pierre Paul himself lord of that ended up going to the New York Giants this is probably the athlete that most people were intrigued with. Not much of a college career but an unbelievable athlete at the -- offensive tackle position that a lot of people thought the Raiders might reach up. Even early in the thick first round but they were very smart letting him go to the fourth round in there he sat. Great developmental prospect -- the fourth round so the Oakland Raiders. Did a nice job with their draft helping themselves. Gonna make the AFC west a very etched in the division with obviously the top seed San Diego Chargers being the team to be. And if you want some good summary you might pick in my book more than a game looking at both those things that go one on and off the field particularly in a time of collective bargaining agreement and all that's gonna be made of that over the summer. Pick it up you might enjoy.
