Let's begin with they segment on the biggest business issues in sports we call. -- Ohio sports agents are on notice Ohio attorney general Richard core -- sent a letter. Access to express lines and a Super Bowl souvenir -- your. The packages. Aimed at all north Texas football fans. Cost up to 5500. Dollars each. A Super Bowl ticket is always hard to come by and another ticket that's equally as difficult is 12 would Duke blue double basketball game. Mike Hsu chefs in the blue doubles are looking to become the first team to win back to back titles since the Florida Gators. Affectionately known as coach K his success since arriving on campus back in 1980 is unmatched. He's led the Blue Devils to four were NCAA championships. Eleven final fours and twelve ACC championships. He's also amassed an NCAA record 77 tournament victories. And coach to 2008 gold medal winning US Olympic men's basketball team. I recently sat down with coach K at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Growing up in Chicago and spending Summers in Pittsburgh who did ever cross your mind that. Years later you would be one if that's not the most for most revered and most successful coaches can't -- in college. That's. I don't think so. I did have dreams so I had dreams that they. A successful high school coach and teacher and I think I would have had a happy life I did that -- I'm a big change occurred at the end my senior year has some pretty good basketball player who was recruited them. -- coach Knight came -- from West Point. Can't talk to my -- my parents my parents could not. Failed them. Inner city polish kids being able. To go to the united states military academy in as a result of their persistence. I made a decision that really changed. The rest of my life first in the very positive way. For NCAA championships that. It NCAA championship games that this this history the number of wins the -- of that amazing record what are you must. I'm proud of the guys that I've coached. Him I think they're the best trophies. You know when you see Tommy hammer -- harbor her Johnny Dawkins at Stanford tape villas in front of millions of people and tech coach those guys. You know I had I had some impact on them and Duke and West Point to two places that I had the privilege to coach. Has afforded me an opportunity to recruit. Young man who are -- -- the highest ilk third highest they have the highest standards. Can. Be able to say listen and they respect. As a result we've worked together and some good things have happened. -- great things have happened he'd been in you know eight final games. Pedroia batting 50% what happened 861994. And on the night. Well we we did something that -- -- the other 352. Teams were able to you know we've made it to the finish line. But we finish behind somebody. You know -- I think what a competitor is is is somebody who keeps knocking out the door. And we kid kept knocking and knocking finally -- came man and then we've come in fourth time senate. That's more than most people have. And so speaking that you're defending national champion and we spent some time with coach Saban and the thing that he was most concerned with his defense was complacency or are you concerned with the -- ever look at it as a defender. I don't think people can relay and sport to defending. Especially when not all the same people are on this team so. I have four kids on the team Oregon last year's team so we want to pursue. The fans kinda mean to protect thing. And I don't think you win unless you pursue so our goal is not -- defend or repeat it's to pursue. This national title. I think we'll have a shot that if we stay healthy as we have pretty good talent. How do you keep your tank full going into this season after which he did internationally and domestically over the last. Well for me it's pretty say I don't look in my rear view mirror when I'm living my life I do when I'm driving. Can. In other words once something is gone it's gone. And then. The tank sympathy for them but it's not empty for the next thing or if you're around my my players. You tank we get old pretty quirk if you had same word no it's messing up hormle subcarrier being in these kids. It's it's pretty exciting to coach himself be ready to go. -- -- -- -- six weeks to prepare for the world championships yet this was a young team with only three all stars had you get them up to speed so quickly. Well it's it's it's difficult knowing internationally because you're playing against countries that do all the time. We have an infrastructure in place now since 2005. When Jerry Colangelo took over USA basketball. And I except to be the head coach we have continuity and solve our support is there how we know how to do it we understand the game. And it makes it a little bit easier for the guys. Not to comment today at infrastructure to come into their culture and these guys that are great job led by Chauncey Billups and Lamar Odom and -- ramp was sensational. How does your coaching style change where you deal with US national all stars versus the way you coach your blue Dolphins. You know this team. More like to -- team in the Olympics games they've. We had actually missed five guys on this team that we're only twenty want. Like -- thing or -- -- Smith are older and that have to team that I coached this summer so. Say they want to be coached a little bit more. With motivation. -- all that is crazy things to do coaching college course in Olympic team they wanted some of that. But -- -- you know they're really pretty established who they are and you managed them a little bit more than coach. But each experience -- Very very special offerman hit 211 round picks. How do you prepare your players to be leaders. Yeah I think that's a great question and then we spent a lot of time with. One -- did not every one is a leader. But the guys who are waiters I talk to them about leadership give -- books on leadership. We have some classes here -- that I try to gear you know steered them to. To take it and then putting him it took in a position of leadership. Whether it be for a day a month for a whole year -- captain. And then hopefully well after they graduate from here keep up with them. About leadership so that tournament expanded to 68 teams do you like that number would you like to see more teams invited. I think it's just right right now and I think it's a good staff and you know there's been an evolution -- the that would determine over the years since. You know this the first change 65 with the chamber when we with a 64 they're probably about 280 teams. Playing division one basketball. Since then they're about her over 350. Was no. New teams come and ends up adding three teams is probably a good thing take a look at it see where we go from there. So one and done -- college basketball some coaches say let the kids go straight from high school some coaches say. You've got to let him go at least for two years to get accustomed to school. What's your position. Yeah I'd like to see a combination I'd like to see kids. Who can grow and would be trapped in the first round while ago I've coached a number of them pretty United States and they're doing real well. If they did come to college I think it's important for them to state two years. You did have a legitimate chance of getting your degree -- probably will have to take. Courses that are called core courses. You know and you wouldn't be making. Or apparently making a joke out of the educational system. Which I think you have to be careful about because. Did Duke has run out because of basketball. Duke is from because of academics and we play basketball and I think we have to make sure we always keep it in that order. The business of college sports conference musical chairs that dominate headlines right now but the changes generally good for college basketball. You know I I don't know much I think there are more changes comer and I I'd really would not I don't I hope it doesn't get to the point where we just have four to six major conferences. Who may think then. Forming their own tournaments he doing their own thing. That. Believe me people were talking about that so do you see a day in the not too distant future -- college sports has only four or five super conferences. I hope we don't but I think. It can happen and this summer we almost saw. To conference's. Go by the wayside. The big twelve and if the big twelve weren't. I think the Big East would have split up. Because people would have been great happen. Other entities and we were gone down from six to four. Quite that. So can it happen again almost just did them. People are still talking about. So the story say you were offered the Celtics job after the ninety season the trailblazers came after you the Lakers came after you to replace Phil Jackson. Forty million dollar deal and an ownership peace. The nets who were reportedly willing to give you twelve million it'd probably would've given you twelve billion if you push that pretty hard. Are you done with the NBA court -- Why basically do you prefer to stay in the college sports. Well you know first vote. Some of that is true that is and they're not all that is true. But. The fact this area that opportunities to go in the pros and I love the pros at the end of the day I could not give up the thing that I love the most professionally and that was coaching at Duke. Man I'll never. Believe due to coach anywhere else -- when I finish coaching it'll be. Finishing -- do can. You find a great place him make good money I lead a great life. But I absolutely believe and our school and I love living in North Carolina being a part of this university you're 63 years old. And you've accomplished some but there's a lot more to be done what's next for coach -- Yeah I just wanna keep coaching and keep having an impact. Whether it be. With my mom sent her an inner city Durham helping kids serve as the foundation for cancer research or. Ticket this ticket to reap your rewards that the NA BC foundation sponsors are impressive of that has yet to stay involved than. You know there's several things you know you've been given a lot you should do a lot with what you've been given them. And not being given a lot so I would hope that I continue to try to do a lot. Can't continue to try to spread that end in a number of different directions. A good teacher leaves his mark on his students and no coaches leading a stronger legacy in college basketball -- coach K. Aside from a handful of your chest you assistants and players that'd become head coaches at other schools. Coach K has also produced 211. Round draft picks. That's the most among active coaches however. Is -- -- most alumni currently in the NBA. Let's go inside the numbers to see which universities have the most guys on in the Iraq. Tied at number five for the Arizona Wildcats UConn Huskies North Carolina Tar Heels each with eleven former players on NBA rosters. Among the most notable or Mike Bibby and Gilbert Arenas from Arizona. Ray Allen Richard Hamilton from UConn and Vince Carter Tyler Hansbrough from UNC next is one of the most storied programs in college basketball. Kansas Jayhawks. They have twelve players in the league including several top ten draft picks the biggest name is longtime Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce. The Kentucky Wildcats UCLA Bruins are tied for second with fourteen players each. Kentucky boosted its total during the 2010 draft by having a record five players selected in the first round including the number one overall pick John Wall. UCLA's alumni include Russell Westbrook. Kevin Love. And finally no surprise at number one. Duke university and the Blue Devils currently have sixteen players in the association. Including former number one pick Elton Brand and fellow first rounder Grant Hill and Shane Battier. From one double to another this week's bust boom and hope highlights three ways the economy affects the business of sports let's -- -- -- Coca-Cola drop a red devil from their kids it's a marketing campaigns featuring Manchester United's Wayne Rooney. Was canceled amid a prostitution scandal. -- deal with Coca-Cola is worth about 800000 dollars a year. The soccer star also has deals with Nike and E. A. SPORTS among others -- -- NASCAR's close to signing -- sponsorship deal with growth energy and ethanol lobbying group. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed. But most NASCAR sponsorship cost up to ten million dollars annually. This partnership would be tied to NASCAR's plan to convert to part ethanol blended fuel. In 2011. And finally -- hope. Reebok is considering putting some of the products in vending machine did NFL stadiums by the end of the season. Reebok the NFL's official outfitter has been in discussions about the possible use of vending machines for more than a year. One way to determine business successes year over year growth. That's why my balloting -- the week is the Australian Open. Organizers of the tennis major announced the open offered 24 million dollar prize pool next year the biggest in its history. Depending on the value of the US dollar in January the tournament could be the world's richest tennis event when it's playing. My flunk out of the week is Andretti auto sports. 7-Eleven notified and ready that it will not continue as the primary sponsor of the team's Izod IndyCar Series entry. Driven by Tony cannot beyond this season. Andretti auto sport is working to find a new primary sponsor for the car which cannot has driven since 2003. Now for my final take the board of directors of English Premier League club Liverpool agreed to sell the story soccer team -- with sports ventures. Owner of the Boston Red Sox performance 77 million dollars. Seems simple enough except there's an interest he twisted his deal. Current Liverpool owners Tom Hicks and George Gillette object to its terms saying the board is dramatically undervalued the team. Hicks and Gillette want to sell Liverpool for twice the amount of the proposed selling price. While it's a usual for board of directors stacked against the interest of owners -- -- being complicated by -- the Liverpool must repay. Liverpool -- Royal Bank of Scotland more than 435. Million dollars. In April as a condition of extending financing to the team by six months RBS was able to select a new chairman for the soccer -- Time is ticking for hicks and Gillette. Although they planned to challenge the sale they have to pay the debt by the deadline. If not RBS could seize the club and sell to another owner thanks for joining me on the sports professor Rick Horrow see you next time when once again we go. Beyond the box.
