Welcome back to the -- Super Bowl Sunday pregame show. Time now descended to our nation's capital where bill Riley is Jimmy -- lives in the white house with a 44 president of the United States. Mr. President thank you very much for doing this and I must thank you on behalf of the Fox News Channel for helping out great -- cut. And -- mr. Wie who got roughed up and Cairo no issue it was Robert Gibbs State Department who really saved them and we all thank you very much Wallace's. Those guys showed enormous courage -- so many journalists do around the world and so not only was important for us to make sure they were safe. For them and their families but to uphold the basic principle of free speech and freedom of the press that's a universal value we care about and I -- fox cares about so I'm just glad these guys are those. -- died and I just want everybody knows that you know at the State Department really saved them hard Mubarak is he gonna -- -- Well -- you know he's only he knows what he's gonna do but here's what we know is that. Egypt is not gonna go back to what are -- That the Egyptian people want freedom they want free and fair elections. They want a representative government that wanna responsive government and so what we've -- is. You have to start a transition now -- sorry -- he's not run for reelection again this term is up this year what we've said is let's make sure that it. You get all the groups together and Egypt for the Egyptian people make a determination what's the process for an orderly transition. But one that is -- meaningful transition. And that leads to a government -- so you don't know what originally. Well he's you know it ultimately beat the United States can't he can't sourcing dictated by what happens when you know we can't remember what we can do bill. Is we can say. That. That time is now. For you to start making a change in that country already done that put them to the longer he stays in a more people are gonna die. The other problem is who Barton has a lot of bad things about the United States I'm sure you're aware that well who who what -- service at the masters and Egypt have been parker for a long time right east gives everything he has he has been a good partner when it comes to. Peace with Israel there. They're -- counterterrorism efforts but he's been very supportive of what we've we've also consistently set to both publicly and privately as. That. Trying to suppress. Your own people is something that is not sustainable and part of the message but I think -- -- in all around the world is. When you resort to suppression when you resort to violence that does not work and it worked at third. Years so he had his front but he did he knows a lot of bad things about us rendition and all that then I'm sure you know that so I'm just worried that he might. Go off the reservation. The -- Muslim Brotherhood great concern to a lot of people. They're a threat to the USA. I think that the Muslim Brotherhood is one faction in Egypt and they don't have majority support major. They don't read it but they are well organized and there are strains of their ideology. That are anti US there's no doubt about it but here's the thing that we have to understand their whole bunch of spent secular folks in Egypt there whole bunch of educators it's. It's civil society in Egypt that wants to come to the -- as well and so it's important for us not to say. That are only two options are either the Muslim Brotherhood. Or a suppressed you don't want to much did you -- people but what I want is a representative government. In Egypt. And I have confidence that if Egypt moves and an orderly transition process that will have a a government in Egypt that I don't work with together as partners a tough. Voice the Muslim Brotherhood wouldn't want him anywhere near that government. Federal judge in Florida said. New health care laws unconstitutional Supreme Court may following that's going to be very closely prepared for that ought to go down. Wiping the judge him for was wrong keep in mind that we've had twelve judges. That said that that the just through this case up to the notion that the -- you're always on pretty constitutional. Well a good person goes appellate court there's just record in the appeal court some on the most Supreme Court but but here's the but here's the key point -- And I said this must figure in. I don't spend the next two years refight the battles the last two years. Michigan what have what can work well I don't think that's -- -- until it is -- the one way India what that would the American people have said is we want. Cost controls and health care we want security and health care what I should -- the Republicans threw us. If you guys have ideas in terms of improving the health care system if you have ideas that I can embrace on things like. That I cannot always itself in a way they're gonna weighed only goes to the court and hope he gets thrown out 54. My question is he prepared if he gets thrown out what are you gonna do here's what I'm not prepared to -- I'm not prepared to go back to a day when the American people. If you've got to preexisting condition you had a heart attack was there and get healthy. Here's a deal Wall Street Journal so much react to this quote mr. Obama is a determined Mandel left. Whose goal is to redistribute much larger levels of income across society. May give technical ground when he has to. As he did on taxes to avoid a middle class tax increase but he will resist to his -- any -- changes to obamacare. And the other load bearing walls of the entitlement state. So what's -- journal. You know painting is a pretty left wing -- junior gonna. Little on the Wall Street Journal parking -- little four and got none out there better be I ever could have some of the wall street journal editorial editor that's that's what this it'll be you know that's like. Quote moved from New York Times or do you deny their assessment. Do you do not ensure a man who wants to redistribute wealth absolutely denied that perhaps a little -- bill I didn't raise taxes once -- lower taxes over the last two years. But I -- I -- -- I lower taxes. For the last two years fatigue and again I don't know I NG champion doesn't do redistribute wealth and -- sense that they provide insurance coverage of forty million people don't have a what is absolutely true. Is I think in this country. There's no reason why if you get sick you should go bankrupt. It the most and that's a radical principle I don't think the majority of people would agree with the -- and wanted to majority people in the polls not support Obama can actually I think it's pretty -- it's close it's it's it's -- -- -- it's evenly divided bill and he and here's what I think a lot of people saw over the last two years at a time when people were concerned about the economy and occurred about jobs. What they saw was a lot of arguing in congress which is what they always sees a lot of are gonna -- us. And they don't like the process and I felt that our focus wasn't on what -- focus on which is how we gonna win the future how we gonna make sure that jobs. All right here in the United States of America how we building a competitive society. At a time when we're losing jobs. Yes that people say that I don't know what people -- Huge and government intrusion and you guys just wanna. Take all over basically the decision making for Americans it's it's an ideological argument when we move well. -- number build our I just wanna be clear reference because if you look at what we've done. What we said was if you got health care that you like you keep. I know I know ahead and and I listened to every I know what I listen to you and and and what I hear you saying bill for example as the notion that. Us saying to people that don't have health insurance. Don't make me pay for your health insurance. Don't don't make me pay for when you go to the emergency room if you get secure have a responsibility to make sure that you've got coverage. There's not -- socialist about that that's saying to Americans were -- each of us be responsible for our own health care and that's something that I think the majority of American. Okay W you understand -- a lot of Americans feel your big government liberal who wants to intrude on a personal freedom now. They also say that you've been -- moving now let's put into my you know that I think well a lot of American Wally bell -- wherever. I think he will -- me out Italy I didn't credit you got a pretty big viewership so now we're trying to source of but to punish -- you're moving to the center. To raise your approval and is a -- immunity moving to the center -- I don't -- because we were set up over there and then they moved a little -- Here's your here's here's what I think is -- over the first two years my presidency we had a complete disaster right we have complete crisis. The financial markets were breaking down. We were slipping into a Great Depression. We have to take a bunch of extraordinary steps in order make sure that the economy was growing again which it is now growing. Make ensure that the private sector was -- jobs again it's not doing that. And now our focus. Is not on the refight the battles last two years he's not told until December but if I hope I haven't I I didn't move took where do you want to move anywhere that you seem to what I'm the same guy and my practical. Focus my common sense focus right now -- how to -- out -- out educate I'll build up compete. The rest of the world how we create jobs here in the United States of America how we make sure. That businesses are striving but I -- we also making sure that the ordinary Americans can live up the American -- -- -- -- I don't feel like they are. I hope you can do I noticed Americans need to be. Secure in their lives okay worst part of this job what's the worst absolutely worst part of being president -- nicest worst part of the job. Is first of all it got jacket on on Super -- summer and that's if I would present that would not the united title. But. The biggest problem for me is being in the ball. Yeah it's very hard to escape you know you can't go to the quarter -- watching every move you make every movie make you and and over time. You know what happens is that you feel like. That that you're not. Able to just have a a spontaneous conversation with -- -- and and and that's that's a loss that's a big loss what is it about the job that has surprised you the most that you -- prepared for -- him. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- That. Every decision that comes to my desk is something that nobody else has been able assault the easy stuff gets solved some more. By somebody else by the time it gets to me you don't have an easy answer you don't have the best. To a sudden wave after wave of complicated problem today don't walk there and had an asset and and well I am what you have to make your best judgment. About the that this is probably. Our best approach for the American people. What you know bad you don't have perfect information and you know that you're not gonna have a perfectly legitimate shot now people who know you have told me that you changed a little -- since you've become president well Margaret that's for sure Meyer -- president does this -- but had to -- Do you think you have changed as a person since you have become president. I think if you ask Michelle who knows me best I think or my closest friends I think they'd say. I'm basically the same guys when I came kind of tell you what they sent there whether it's you much more guarded. Well I I think what is true is that when you're in this job. Everything you say could affect markets they could affect. No I know this isn't even on a personal level some people know you say -- you know he's not. He doesn't have the the he's not as late as he used to be some spontaneous held I bet -- preoccupy I would -- -- I would say that's. Probably true I mean look there's no doubt that the way to the office. Has an impact but I will tell you that. The long -- this job the more I enjoy. That'd be. More optimistic I am about the American people the more optimistic -- but this country. There's there's something about this position that. Gives you got a pretty good vantage point of the country as a whole and for all the arguing that we get into him and all the debates between Democrats -- Republicans. Tremendous country yeah it is and then there's just a sense that -- there there's a common sense and and the decency to the American people. That makes me optimistic even on the worst of days. I assistant President Bush and I talked and few weeks ago. Does it disturb you -- so many people hate you. Are coming into the MLS a serious question. You don't -- the truth is that that the people and I'm sure. President previous presence would say the same effect whether it was bush or Clinton or Reagan or anybody. The the people who dislike your. Don't know I hate you even -- -- that the folks who hate you they don't know yet -- what special what they hate is. Whatever fun house mirror image -- -- that's out there. And they don't know you and so you don't take it personally know you don't ever now because you know that if you if you don't annoy you sometimes you know what the -- I think that by the time you get here. You have to -- -- pretty picks get. If you didn't mean to -- when -- got. If fox sports says is suitable tonight you know senate choice -- enormous amount of money Ford and that's a credit to make fortunate they pay all my expenses here. Who's gonna win again. -- yeah. I built here is a factor once my Bears lost. I don't -- actually don't care. Or not do -- willing -- got a great game I want aggregate you don't care what the as a pretty evenly matched teams I don't be you know I think that. -- Green Day is probably -- faster. Steelers got a lot more experience I think the Steelers not having their starting center is something that they gotta be -- Would you actually watched a game you an individual party tonight. Yeah barbecue where do you actually it was actually -- -- of course I watch you can sit down you know -- a club I'll let you know football you know like blitzes and cover regional you know on the football where he did have some looks and -- basketball. I know I'm a football yeah I know football I am and I watch the game what happens this. I schmooze with -- everybody when they come down. Given -- little bit of time once the game starts they can just sit down and watch -- your attitude while Obama obviously there with a but I don't want them coming up. Chip in and Chad and -- we -- folks on football. Well that's so lives part of this -- -- and I have to say I enjoyed talking I disagree with you sometimes I hope you think -- -- to you like try to be. But I wish you well next year olds it's always like Wright is like to see you.
