And that's something prevalence and benefits. This weekend coach they presented by the GMC never say never moment of the week where he boards in the book already with the it was a -- find out how they plan to slow down the high powered offense of New Orleans. We'll take the view the reds. Way to -- the ball. But tonight if you. Presented by the GMC never say never. Welcome coach speak presented by the GMC never say never moment of the week coming up we'll drop option routes -- -- Ken Whisenhunt shared his thoughts on leadership and Mike Tice will discuss players who become coaches right now afloat and Buccaneers head coach redeem Boris. Coach pretty good you sat at home which feed up on the couch you can you can about the weekend on top of the division that's pretty good deal. -- really is -- we're pumped up again just like they're my dignity and he thought would be. This is it's been a tough division I Carolina get better way to have gotten better. Watch those guys sort of single week and play as hard as they can and it just -- barely missed at the end of the week and is his only amount of time we'll welcome to get him where. All the talk that a minute the first wanna ask yet. Okay you do have the weekend off and obviously get some time away what what did you watch on Sunday did you watch a game to watch a couple games what you do -- Sunday. Now of actually that would -- -- mall I got just to go throughout a local sports bar here and sit down with people and and did enjoy the game you know my daughter Randy around it like crazy LB not chosen and sit back and seeing what fans loved the game just an offense that's great. It's a beautiful thing you sit around people that just -- thing we can have no most of the times in the games is just also minutes. It was a fun thing to watch -- fun to be part of. Let's talk about a couple things with the matchup that you have against New Orleans I have a couple interest in things I think the fans are -- should be your first. You just got done playing a couple weeks ago and obviously you're very familiar to one another. Being in the division talk about the challenges of playing a team so close approximately one. You know any time you got to play Drew Brees like this back to back it's almost like a double -- -- FaceBook games like. I was never fun on the you know you got to go out there play in a bit and come off a very bitter loss put it going to be angry -- -- ago. To got to deal with those problems. What would going out -- that don't. We had some success in the last couple years onto that means nothing as we all know what you still got to -- and give our best shot give our best effort in order to win this football game and it's. Again for first place so that'd be funny that upended. As you get ready for the Saints again you are very familiar with one another but in the last game do you ever find do you kind of keeps up and your back pocket thinking okay. We kind of got this one but I'm -- plan and a couple weeks I kind of like this but don't need it now it's all just kind of keep this up my play calling she. It always like that know you always have stuff you play -- he gets to leap over. You decide what you want to call it leader in that game what do you wanna hold onto it. I'm we have a couple things that we held -- last game. On that hopefully can help us you know Gilbert did to help our preparation this time. -- -- I was got to go back and restated -- film because the stakes are gonna change things don't want to do things better. On the front of different ways to run the ball which is -- if -- last time and -- we got to go out and about match that match that intensity are what they gonna do we know they're gonna do with their with their personnel. You talked about the division being clocked up every game -- compelling thing about the NFL's only sixteen games this desire 62 games Major League Baseball. It's not eighty plus games in the NBA that is if you play at all. It's just sixteen games so every game is important but. It looks like the way you guys are clocked up in the NFC south and it's really gonna come down and could come down to the head to head competition. Does that the players sense that is or something about the week when you're getting ready for division rival on the road do you sense that your players. Yeah absolutely do. On the excitement to play this -- to play anybody division is always. As I was an -- -- on these guys love playing each other they love the rivalry and and and this year until these guys you know only goes to go on how to win the NFC south. And the only you do that you beat you guys you division we know are crimes division is gonna be good about going to be tough -- -- by go play hard fast mark consistent. It's about who can finish and play better down a -- stretching here. You know last year Josh Freeman was so good and a big party your success was adjusted and turned the ball over. Struggled a little bit that so far this year what can you do to help him. Get over that bugaboo of the turnovers. You know -- and play consistent right now medical -- was progress since they keep getting better that situation with the game still only 23 years so. That's another big thing but I yet many people yet -- he won't let you beat excuse form. But the thing yet remember is he's still young he's still grown he's still developing and as we got to help him on this team that helped Morgan Morse well also. Hopefully. Being in a mix of things here at point three you know right atop your division battling. I'm there to help him saying hey if I play. I play my best on the first after the season market -- second Nazis who knows. Well last time it was kind you -- your game and obviously we've all seen what happened to Sean Payton when he got wound up on the sideline. And got run over he's up in the Booth now I got any plans they set anybody up there have been kind of take him out up there. I'm an average out of it is -- windows the -- out -- it probably came in and get -- -- that we don't want take out my guy but. I -- -- -- in the box to be -- -- -- political vision and we'll worry about that but India there columnist calls and got the next few done silently down silence and do we can do best. Yeah have you ever not just off finished with this because of poison to the fact that he has had to go to the boot now. Do you have a preference I mean obviously as head coach going to be on the sideline but calling a game as a defense of coordinator from the boot -- of the field do you have a preference. You know I'm kind of. You've got I love you most of the game. I look to be a good look at the players in the face and -- those guys. -- gain confidence in and when you look at your corners and you talk about challenging what you don't play man with the Oakland zero and regain confidence in your rest we asked them what they can do and how they can do it. I'm it's not coming from a coach is coming directly from your guys would come off the film and look at it -- sometimes we have held discussions. On that lead is to make a call the next play you know and I got an emotional team as a very young to feed off our -- As a coaches that so I like to give it some up close and personal house that's kind of our -- Perfect program -- good luck this weekend and if you really need that secret weapon you always get fox put me -- when -- games because you have a lot about them when -- games. They're undefeated which suggest that I got to try to does that that is because moves into secure when. Because there's just the opposite of Carrick. I get they'll -- probably that I get to go more -- get ex coach. Think you. Talk about forcing turnovers all the time something yes that was stripping the football is worked on in practice every week. We hooked up with Redskins defense of coordinator Jim Haslett to show us how it's. Else I would chip has the defense coordinator for the Washington Redskins and the game -- it's all -- creating turnovers you've got to get that turnover ratio if you're gonna win the game. But it's not a matter of just hitting so hard the ball comes out there's a little bit more to that you're actually coach up techniques for stripping -- ball let's talk about that will. There's a couple things one. If the guy has two hands on the ball when you got to secure the tackle first when the secure the tackle in your punch hand and secure the tackle -- grab him and -- that's number -- secure the tackle then you get -- down the running -- the old -- of the world to get the stuff far right so I came here for a year here in your step farm -- -- -- first thing you gotta do is get your arms up. Could you not get tackle personal so we teach our guys get the arm down and get it up. I and in the second thing when -- step on them I really secure and a ball enough to realize I get the ball dying -- -- you know get rid of the -- first and they can reach for the ball punts for the ball. I -- to me is to everyone's one if he does that if he doesn't to form you you got to secure the tackle number one. Two if he does you can get to hand out first get to tackle punt the ball. Sometimes you need to just get the ball your best player -- -- -- -- good way to do that is an option route. Jacksonville's offensive coordinator -- cutter shows us how the jags get that. Coach obviously. Whether it's the tide and once the running back option routes the ability. Took kind of basketball on grass sports go out and -- you beat that guy and I'll find you shall we which got away. I absolutely well. Yeah you know who we -- got to get the get the ball to your best guys and at Jacksonville. Our offense goes through number 32. -- this guy right here Maurice Jones-Drew. And so one out of one of our favorite things to do. His play a little two man game over here whether it's a flexed out tight and or split and or acts in this case we'll call it or acts split on the. Bottom of the numbers and he's gonna he's gonna seem released in the inside the numbers push up to fifteen yards and run in NFL terms seven -- Or bench -- or -- is gonna. Break from the outside break to the bench at fifteen if he's got corner off. Or forget some kind of -- corner he's gonna break it to the corner work off the safety. And -- for 22 yards on the sideline. I'm gonna take Reese right here and we're gonna give him a free release or are released to get away from that that speed rusher coming off the hand. And Reese is gonna come out here and try to work an option route -- The dime or the will backer whoever's in that spot. -- in the way that option route works Marreese is gonna come out here and anywhere as he gets past the line of scrimmage and get his shoulders squared up. Anywhere between two and six yards. We're gonna look to let him take an inside break. Gain as much ground as he can't. If he cannot get inside. That will linebacker in the -- stays inside of him. He'll push stepping up to six and turned his numbers back to the quarterback. If you -- -- man or match coverage mean that linebackers coming at him when he push that thing up to six yards. He'll break it out and stay on the move or run and our option -- series especially our halfback option. We'll play in a two man to man real two man game over here and we're gonna read -- load up high so anticipate inside break by -- back and read it one. To two in case we get a bracket on Marreese get a bracket on that halfback and they're squeezed him in there usually that comes with that cloud corner there squeezing it down. The squeeze it down without linebacker and we photo of the corners head. Point two yards on the boundary. On this side over here or run some kind of complimentary route. Mainly we're gonna take we we like to run annual state concept on this side and come here just try to take. Front side linebacker over the Mike and pull him out of there. Romo -- rout over here where we showed quarterback or numbers break out vs man. Outside released by the outside receiver so we still got a little stretch working on this side and also if we get some blitz looks we use this as a blitz beater over on this time. Now this week's GMC never say never moment of the week nominees. -- first -- -- which ran through it yet when he game this season. Without their starting quarterback we're taking on a team that was coming off a 55 point victories. But backup quarterback AJ Feeley played mistake free. And running back Steven Jackson bulldozed his way to a 159 yards rushing and two touchdowns as the rams' upset the Saints 31 point one. Our second nominee Ray Rice the Baltimore Ravens. Found themselves down to the Arizona Cardinals went 46 -- half in front of their home crowd of running back rice refused to give up. Wright scored a career high three touchdowns all in the second half. To help Baltimore beat Arizona 3027. -- pull off the greatest second half rally team. Now it's time to answer what are your tweets this one is for Ken Whisenhunt -- comes from fastball that and they asked what are you looking forward a leader on the field. Is the best -- consists of more pictures of the matter what's going. And whether injured healthy. Going well when bad consistently. Day in day out because it shows does the right way and that needs to be physical needs more work hard no matter what else going. You know whether it's. Oh and his teammates or whether it's to the right way himself those qualities consistency what you look for a readership and it doesn't have to necessarily you oh. Lot of times you got it doesn't have a lot to say it. You know exactly what you're gonna -- from that yet every day and in the chips are down -- clutch situation. And can count. If you have a question you want to ask an NFL head coach. Sent the tweet to me -- Coach Billick -- female just coach speak at fox dot com. This week up in San Diego the Packers and Chargers so if you have a question for Mike McCarthy or Norv Turner said this tweak your question make you used on there. Sometimes players think becoming a coach -- putting on -- headset telling guys what to do. In this week's coaches -- Bears offensive line coach Mike Tice tells us it's not that he's. Note players that won't become coaches whether the college level high school in Poland and -- person you have to understand there's the classroom and studying is like going to school. It's not just about gone on the practice -- and lifting weights anymore. It's not about just learning your part of the game plan it's about being able to understand the full scope. Over the office in my Jersey office is trying to do and how do you take that and Penn -- she's stepped to the players so. What Joseph understand what you have to understand as a former player who wants to coaches and takes a lot more preparation time. A lot more time putting your plan to W doing rings saying you know we're independent worker plant understand your plan and work your plan and so. Play and you work him out so we try to do try to plan and formulate your plan to teach. And that takes the most time road and that's what field preparation is about us. How correct relate to some players relate -- understand as well as I understand. I think former players think you're going to watch the tape. Screaming you know a little bit do a lot of that when I was younger -- screaming go -- Put them somewhere along the line you lose a communication and ability to do. Not -- might Billick ran it seems like we have this incessant need by coaches both head coaches and coordinators. After a tough loss to throw themselves under the bus the -- every news conference with its my fault. I didn't get them ready. Put that on me my bad I gotta tell you I don't like it. What happened to suggest we didn't play well and what part of Reid doesn't include me. But all the time it seems like -- coaches have -- the humility and to me it just comes off as pandering pandering to the media. Pandering to the fans pandering to the players that don't know it's all on me you should take -- -- job because I'm throwing myself under the bus. I think you need to be careful because at some point ownership the players may decide you know what I think you're right there's an old saying coach says. You know what. The walk if you let -- simply meaning that if you give the players that excuse -- are gonna take it I think it's just simply giving the players. You say okay maybe it wasn't me I appreciated coached at the end of the day there gonna agree with yeah and maybe a change is gonna come about. Felt good this week's episode of coach speak presented by the GMC never say never moment of the week. Make sure to tune in next Tuesday for another great show have a great week it was one.
