He's the Cy Young winner and I think rightfully so the MVP in the American League Justin Verlander joining us now. How surprised were you to get that call yesterday. I was pretty surprised you know. I didn't allow myself to think that I would when it. I mean especially after as time started pats and it. I got the phone call that fifteen minutes later that I got the hands the phone call to decide to -- so. I pretty much all the written it off and then write about that time. There PR got a Tigers called me. And you know -- timeout and I don't know like he can't recall what that was economy it's too late. And he just says congratulations mr. MVP and out. And what it what a feeling of elation reality here that. But they tell you they're gonna call you would a certain time the Cy Young -- -- at the top of the hour what you said 1 eastern. 2 eastern. 2:2 eastern but we -- we find out a little bit early not much obviously just I mean a little bit of time early but. Like I said I think I found out maybe. Around 1 o'clock or so for already -- 45 this -- on in and the MVP was around one sooners. And that I was trying to find out what was going on that day so. It and you can buy one I was gonna go about my day and it was shouldn't it be about that time that. You know I'm -- on the hope and for a phone call and just not getting it and then all of a sudden my phone rings and out of that was that. Like I guess when you're you're waiting for a phone call like that dude did you tell all your friends please at this time do not call me. And now I think don't let friends know all my good friend -- related news going on you know I was here my house so -- myself. My girlfriend mom was here and microphone that town I didn't want anybody around -- it's not just kind of went down. In my little area and and just -- myself and try to not think about a watch TV do whatever. Way DR a man and K you just -- down in your little man came. Of course Saturday -- the wait what's in your man and biting my man caves pretty much dominates everybody's butt. Give me an idea it would get your mental. I think they would and just tell anybody I'm going to be honest about it. Yeah I I supported. Not only myself but a pitcher's cause for MVP all year so why -- I support that and then not vote for. Exactly what I'm supporting. Who would -- given your second vote to. So -- can -- Well I would have to say Miguel just because of the -- seeing what he did all year was just. Actually amazing he's done it for years and gone and really -- under the radar doing it. And which I think it's a travesty I think people need to recognize have been of a baseball player Miguel earliest. That that goes -- get to waste their valuable part of the award. -- valuable player does something good happened that's a part of a winning team that type of thing. So I think that -- as the case -- being eligible for MVP. Unless there's another award where it's -- most valuable pitcher. You know not necessarily the most statistically. Best pitcher but. You know the most valuable and it has that type of award and I agree there's two separate awards one for position players want for catcher. And and that set the standard but as it's written now that you should definitely be eligible. You go to a half million dollars for a in the Cy Young you had no bonus Australia being happy just to.
