I'm Brian Webber it's -- -- behind the -- presented by Pete heartbreak grates on the table I'm pleased to be joined by our senior baseball writer John Paul Mara. JP the Atlanta Braves have one of the best records in the National League but they are getting a lot of attention why -- we not spent too much stop talking about them this year. O'Brien has a lot going on. In the National League east so far you had the Phillies come -- be a big disappointment. The Marlins with the new ballpark and all the signings they made all the Ozzie Guillen controversy they had there the nationals have been a big story Bryce Harper Stephen Strasburg. The Atlanta Braves very quietly have put together one of the better seasons in the National League so far. It's really remarkable to me how the Red Sox seem to have that hang over from last September and the Braves had just moved right -- they had a really rough spring training. But I've been very impressed with the way the players and manager -- Gonzales have kept that team afloat. I like the way chipper Jones and come back healthy I think that has been a huge huge affect their for the Atlanta Braves. The Braves just went to Saint Louis and swept the reigning champions what did we learn about them over those three games. Well the biggest thing to me Brian is they beat Lance -- on Sunday he has looked like the first six weeks of the seasons Cy Young there in the National League. And it proved to me really this Atlanta lineup can hit good pitching that was the big question about them down the stretch last year where they collapsed their offense disappeared Brian McCann all of a sudden was in the same guy. Now you're starting to see a lineup that's got some serious depth. Jason Heyward drove in the big runs there on Sunday. I like the overall what this lineup was working together Martina Prada was healthy. His absence last year stretches with a big it was a big impact for them in the negative direction and Dan Uggla to me has gotten off to a much better start certainly than he saw last year. So really to me we're seeing a lot of they can hit good pitching. And that's exactly why they're able to beat the St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend. Finally -- -- center fielder Michael -- is one of the top leadoff hitters in all of baseball is also would be a free agent after this season so. How do you expect that situation the player out. Well I don't think Michael Moore will be signing an in season extension at the -- he's going. First of all the of this Scott Boras client and Scott Boras clients are not known for taking discounts during the year so I think -- at the free agent market with a lot of momentum as long as it -- play and the way he has there could be a lot of teams that are involved in the bidding for him the Washington Nationals had been a team. In the same division as the Braves that have been looking for a leadoff hitter for some time I do wonder if they might be one of the top. Candidates to sign him and I wondered to have maybe the Texas Rangers would be involved. If they -- unable to sign Josh Hamilton is your question is more for November December but Michael -- a very exciting player and really one guy that aside from Josh Hamilton. Might be having one of the best years of any free agent to be. All right JP thanks so much for the -- Think you. That is gonna do it for this edition of behind the team presented by pizza -- great great time at the table for John Palmer Rosie I'm Bryan Webber will see next up.
