Gilbert Melendez and Diego Sanchez have each had the opportunity to fight for championship gold in the UFC lightweight division in the past. While their respective fights were drastically different, the end result for both fighters was the same – they lost.

This weekend at UFC 166 in Houston, Texas, the former title challengers look to take the first step towards once again battling for the top spot in the stacked weight division, squaring off in a highly anticipated fight that lands square in the middle of a loaded pay-per-view main card on Saturday.
