Rousey to coach on 'Ultimate Fighter'
It will soon be Coach Ronda Rousey.
The UFC women’s titleholder will be one of the two coaches on the next season of "The Ultimate Fighter," UFC president Dana White announced on FX from UFC 158 at Bell Centre on Saturday night. The winner of next month’s Cat Zingano-Misha Tate fight will become the other coach.
“For the first time ever, two female coaches,” White said.
White said that both men and women will be in the house together, another first for TUF. All will be 135 pounders.
The UFC will hold open tryouts in Las Vegas on April 15 for the show.
Rousey has made appearances on "The Ultimate Fighter" before, making cameos during season 15's live format and during the current season 17 airing Tuesdays on FX Networks.
It was already expected that Rousey would fight the winner of Zingano-Tate, which will take place as part of this season's TUF finale on April 13. Saturday’s announcement — barring injury or anything else unforeseen — basically cements the matchup.
TUF coaches typically fight one another after a season runs its course.
