Vitor Belfort pre-fight interview
In 2013, “The Phenom” Vitor Belfort has scored back-to-back head-kick Knockout of the Night bonuses in his native Brazil. On the eve of his third main event bout this year in his home country, Belfort talks with FOX Sports’ Heidi Androl about how he judges his evolution as a fighter and what’s in store for his rematch with Dan Henderson.
“I believe everyday is a winning day and it’s a process,” states Belfort. “That’s what I live for. Better husband, better father, better athlete, better businessman. That’s how I roll my life.”
Since returning to the UFC in 2009, Belfort is 5-2 inside the Octagon with all wins by stoppage (4 KO/TKOs, 1 sub) and his two losses were in battles for belts (middleweight and light-heavyweight). As Belfort prepares to continue his quest for another title shot while avenging his 2006 decision loss to Henderson, “The Phenom” tells how his goal is to simply have a good performance - the rest isn’t up to him.
“He comes forward, he likes to fight, he likes to scramble,” explains Belfort. “It’s going to be interesting. I just got to keep alert and do my thing, do my best. That’s all I want to live is my best in the Octagon and that’s what I can promise you guys. I’m going to do my best and the result is in God’s hands.”
