10 things to know about Serra's Jalen Greene

Thirteen wins and 30 touchdowns later, the senior quarterback will lead the Cavaliers (13-0) into the CIF Western Division championship game against Mission League rival Chaminade (11-2) on Friday at 7 p.m. on FOX Sports West. It's a rematch of the 2012 final that was won by Greene and company.
In the meantime, here's 10 things you may not know about Serra's lefty signal caller, who has given a verbal commitment to Boise State.
Greene is known as "JG" to most. To add a twist, during his sophomore year, some started to call him "JG3" adding the number at the end because of his jersey number.
Basketball was the sport for Greene growing up. He started playing when he was four-years-old before stopping in the eighth grade. It was just one way he was able to stay active while growing up.
"My dad just been preaching to me to be an athlete since I was growing up," he said.
Greene got the itch to start playing basketball again last year and joined the school's JV team.
Late night snack
It's nothing like a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch for Greene when he needs something to snack on late.
"That's my favorite," he said.
If it's time to eat, give Greene a pizza and he's happy.
"That's probably my favorite," he said. "That's what I eat a lot. Any kind, just pizza."
Greene is a fan of the New York Giants. Quarterback Eli Manning is a big reason for his allegiance to the G-Men.
"Since his big brother doing so well he's like the underdog," Greene said of the younger Manning. "He's underrated to me.
"The way he would finish in the fourth quarter just shows that he could do it."
The 1999 film "The Wood" is a favorite for Greene.
The reasoning is simple: "Because I'm from Inglewood," he said.
Best sports memory
Serra's 42-15 win over Oakdale in the state championship last season, Greene says says.
As a sophomore when it was time to pick jersey numbers, Greene originally wanted No. 13 and he had a plan to make sure he got it. He was allowed to make three choices, so he submitted No. 13 along with Nos. 99 and 75 with the thought he'd get 13 because they wouldn't give a quarterback a big number.
The plan didn't work out the way he thought it would.
"(Coach) was like 'we have No. 3' and so I just rolled with it," he said.
The Serra senior has thrown for over 6,000 yards in his career and ran for nearly 3,000 more. He's won a CIF championship and a state title. Without question, a great prep career, but he'd like that to translate to the collegiate level.
"(My biggest fear is) not being able to be as successful as I am on the next level,” Greene said. Hopefully (it will happen) if I prepare myself right. I think I'm putting myself around the best coaches to prepare me for the next level. Hopefully I can get that same success I have now on the next level."
When he's not leading the Cavs football team, Greene can be found spending his time playing NCAA Football on Xbox. He claims to have the edge over teammate Adoree' Jackson.
"(I beat him) all the time," Greene said.
