Kobe Bryant makes first appearance since surgery

With about eight minutes left in the third quarter of the team’s 103-82 Game 4 loss against the San Antonio Spurs, injured guard Kobe Bryant hobbled on the floor using crutches — his first appearance since he underwent surgery on his ruptured left Achilles tendon.
The appearance was worthy of a standing ovation, which is what Bryant got from a Staples Center crowd that was mostly snoozing through the Lakers' elimination loss.
Bryant waved to the fans and took a seat behind the team’s bench. During a timeout, he called guard Darius Morris over to whisper a few words. After another timeout, he joined the huddle and could be seen addressing his teammates.
Bryant showed up at a good time. A couple of minutes earlier, center Dwight Howard was given his second technical foul of the game, an automatic ejection.
