Rogers practices with Trojans for first time

There was a new wide receiver on the field for the Trojans -- Darreus Rogers.
The former Carson High School standout practiced with USC for the first time on Thursday. He was originally a member of the Trojans' 2012 recruiting class but didn't qualify academically.
After getting his academics in order, he's now free to join the team.
Last week, Rogers tweeted a picture of his acceptance letter into USC with the notation, "For all the SC fans that heard bad rumors about me here you go I'm official."
He is now a member of the 2013 recruiting class and treated as an early enrollee.
USC head coach Lane Kiffin says because school is out and USC has wrapped up final examinations, that makes him eligible to practice. He "was already" cleared by USC and he was cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse in September.
"He can practice with us until we leave," Kiffin said of Rogers. "He can't go down there (to El Paso)."
Rogers participated with the Scout Team on Thursday as the Trojans continue their preparations for the Sun Bowl on New Year's Eve against Georgia Tech. Kiffin said Rogers looked "good."
"Obviously that's hard just coming in and practicing with guys that have been doing it for a long time but you can see that he's very talented," Kiffin said.
As a senior at Carson in 2011, Rogers caught 64 passes for 1,251 yards and eight touchdowns, leading the Colts to a second consecutive LA City title game.
Rogers was rated the 10th best wide receiver in the class of 2012 by Scout.com.
He has good size at 6'2" and just under 200 pounds. Rogers "is powerful against jams at the line of scrimmage and is adept at getting separation in close quarters. Very natural catching the ball," wrote Scott Kennedy of Scout.com.
Rogers along with quarterback Max Browne (Washington Skyline), defensive backs Chris Hawkins (Rancho Cucamonga) and Su'a Cravens (Vista Murrieta), defensive linemen Kylie Fitts (Redlands East Valley) and Kenny Bigelow (Maryland Tri-state Christian Academy), and running back Justin Davis (Stockton Lincoln) are all expected to be on campus in time for spring practice.
Rogers joins a wide receiving group that includes Biletnikoff Award winner Marqise Lee, Nelson Agholor, George Farmer and Robert Woods if he elects to return for his senior season.
Sebastian LaRue (Santa Monica) and Steven Mitchell (Alemany) are current USC commits at wide receiver.
