Jordy Nelson is used to getting plenty of airtime on Sundays during football season, but this fall, the Packers' wide receiver is ditching Aaron Rodgers and teaming up with legendary Wisconsin director Jerry Zucker to appear in an ad campaign for the Wisconsin Department of Tourism.
Nelson and his wife Emily will star in a pair of 60- and 90-second TV commercials promoting tourism to the Dairy State beginning next month.
"Wisconsin has been so welcoming to me and my family," Nelson stated. "I couldn't resist the chance to join in the fun, which is what people experience in Wisconsin."
On top of the ad spots, Nelson will also write a monthly blog during Packers season for TravelWisconsin.com.
The ads were conceived and directed by Zucker, director of critically acclaimed movies such as "Airplane," "Naked Gun" and "Ghost." They will debut at a premier party Aug. 1 at Meyer Theatre in Green Bay.
Surely these ads will draw in attention from all over the country. And don't call him Shirley.
