Returns to bench
Morales (lower body) is on the bench for Saturday's clash with LAFC.
Impact
Morales missed a single match with the lower body injury but he's now back on the bench. The midfielder has been a bench option more often than not, and it seems like the majority of his appearances will come in that role.

Added to injury report
Morales (lower body) is questionable for Saturday's clash with Nashville.
Impact
Morales was a late addition to the injury report with a lower body injury. It's not the most clear report obviously so there's no real guess on Morales' status for the upcoming match. The midfielder has started four of the last five and if fit could start again.

Joins San Jose
Morales was traded to the Earthquakes from New York City FC ahead of the 2024 MLS season, his former club announced Thursday.
Impact
New York City FC decided against extending Morales' contract, and they traded the experienced midfielder to the Earthquakes for a third-round pick in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft. Morales should add depth in midfield for San Jose and is expected to contend for regular minutes -- and possibly a regular starting role -- on the West Coast.

ROTOWIRE
Not on injury report
Morales (leg) is not on the injury report for Saturday's match against Chicago Fire.
Impact
Morales could make his long-awaited return to action since he hasn't played since mid-September. However, his presence won't affect many fantasy decisions, as he hasn't started a league game since mid-July, and is not expected to do so considering what's at stake for NYCFC in the regular-season finale.

Won't play Saturday
Morales won't play Saturday against Toronto FC due to an adductor problem, head coach Nick Cushing told media, including Hudson River Blue, on Friday.
Impact
Injuries have plagued Morales all season long, but he hasn't been able to secure a starting role in midfield even when healthy. His next chance to play will come against Inter Miami on Sep. 30.

Continues to start
Morales generated one tackle (one won) and one clearance in Saturday's 2-1 loss against Philadelphia Union.
Impact
Morales has started the last nine matches, mainly to fill the void of James Sands while he served with the USMNT. It will be tough to see the midfielder try to keep his starting role with Sands back and Parks starting in every match thus far, but could be the first option to start if needed over Matias Pellegrini.

Impact
Morales made his return off the bench after missing the last three matches with a lower body injury. He assisted New York's first goal during Wednesday's loss. The midfielder has been nothing more than just a bench player, making just two starts in the last 11 appearances with just one assist thus far.

In contention for midweek match
Morales (lower body) has returned to full training and "should be healthy" heading into Wednesday's clash against FC Cincinnati, according to NYCFC manager Nick Cushing on Monday.
Impact
Morales has missed New York City's last three league games with a lower body injury, but he's expected to be available for selection to face Cincinnati on Wednesday. Even when fit, he's started just two of his nine MLS appearances this season in midfield.

Will miss RSL match
Morales (lower body) will remain sidelined for Wednesday's clash against Real Salt Lake, according to NYCFC's injury report for the match.
Impact
Morales will miss a third straight game in all competitions Wednesday with a lower body injury he suffered last week. Even when fit, he has fallen behind Keaton Parks, James Sands and Richard Ledezma in New York City's midfield depth chart.

Ruled out for weekend
Morales (lower body) will not be available for Saturday's clash against the Red Bulls, according to New York City's injury report.
Impact
Morales was a late scratch for the midweek loss to FC Cincinnati in the U.S. Open Cup due to an injury, and he will remain sidelined for the Hudson River derby on Saturday as well.

Scratched from lineup in cup match
Morales was replaced by Justin Haak in the lineup during Wednesday's 1-0 loss to FC Cincinnati during the U.S Open Cup with an apparent injury.
Impact
Morales is in doubt for the Hudson River derby Saturday, with further details of his injury unclear after being a late scratched Wednesday during the U.S Open Cup. He has not been much of an opportunity to start thus far with Keaton Parks and James Sands the solidified defensive midfielders for the club. The 32-year-old started just twice in the last nine matches while totaling five tackles, four interceptions and four clearances.

ROTOWIRE
Quiet game in first start
Morales made a block in Saturday's 1-0 defeat against the Dynamo.
Impact
Morales received his first start of the season on Saturday, but he wasn't very effective with this opportunity and should return to the bench next weekend in favor of Keaton Parks and James Sands in defensive midfield.

Makes bench Saturday
Morales is on the bench for Saturday's game against Inter Miami.
Impact
Morales has yet to log a single minute this season, but the fact that he will be available off the bench is a positive sign given he missed last weekend's game with a lower body injury.

Out against Chicago
Morales will not be involved in Saturday's clash against the Fire due to a lower body injury, according to New York City's injury report.
Impact
Morales was an unused substitute in last weekend's season opener, but he has picked up an injury and will miss out entirely on Saturday. Keaton Parks and Justin Haak started last weekend in defensive midfield, and new signing James Sands will be another likely starter in the position once he's back up to speed with the team.

Impact
Morales was a constant in New York City's midfield this campaign until injury struck in the summer and Maximiliano Moralez took over from there. The 32-year-old Morales will hope to win back the spot for 2023, but there is plenty of competition for the position with Nicolas Acevedo and Keaton Parks in the mix as well.

Out against Montreal
Morales (groin) will not be available for Sunday's Eastern Conference semifinal against CF Montreal, NYCFC coach Nick Cushing told Ryan Gerbosi of Newsday Sports on Friday.
Impact
Morales has been sidelined for much of the last two months due to a groin injury. He was able to make an appearance off the bench on Decision Day but then was out again for the first game of the playoffs last weekend, and he will remain unavailable on Sunday. Maximiliano Moralez and Nicolas Acevedo should get the starts in defensive midfield for the conference semifinal with Keaton Parks available off the bench.
