Bucs WR Williams will play after arrest
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Williams was arrested on a DUI charge early Friday but will still play in Sunday's game against the 49ers.
Williams, 23, was arrested at 2:48 a.m., according to Hillsborough County Jail records. He was booked and released after posting $500 bail shortly after 8 a.m., the newspaper reported.
The rookie standout was driving a black Cadillac 57 mph in a 45 mph zone and weaving between lanes, said Larry McKinnon, Hillsborough County Sheriff's spokesman.
Williams failed a field sobriety test, McKinnon told the paper. Two tests found his blood-alcohol level at .065 and .061 percent, below the state limit of .08 for DWI.
A urine test was conducted and results are pending, McKinnon said. A urine test is done if a deputy suspects a driver is impaired by a substance other than alcohol.
Buccaneers coach Raheem Morris said Williams be disciplined for the incident, but he will play in Sunday's game in San Francisco and his role will not change, Adam Caplan reports.
Williams, a fourth-round draft pick out of Syracuse in April, has 40 catches this season and leads NFL rookies in receiving yards with 627. He's scored five touchdowns and is averaging 15.7 yards per catch.
Williams missed all of the 2008 college season after he was accused of cheating on a test. He also missed part of the 2009 season for curfew violations and eventually left the team with five games left.
