Utah State forward transfers to Utah, but will have to pay tuition

David Collette is remaining Beehive State.

The former Utah State forward is heading to in-state foe Utah, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports

However, there's a catch. Collette will not be on scholarship once he gets there. He will have to pay tuition for the next two semesters. At that time he will become eligible to play for the Utes.

This is a product of Utah State refusing to release him from his scholarship, which prohibited other schools from talking to Collette. The timing of Collette's transfer could have been worse, informing head coach Tim Duryea of his decision to leave the program 48 hours for the season opener. Duryea wondered if Collette had been "poached." Collette denied that allegation.

The 6-foot-10 forward averaged 12.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game last season for the Aggies. He'll be eligible after the fall semester in December 2016.
