Sabres' Josh Gorges is quickly forgetting about the past

As far as Sabres' defenseman Josh Gorges is concerned, last season did not happen in Buffalo.

Gorges and his team finished dead last in the NHL, but he's not going to let the last season bother him.

"Whatever's happened in the past is not to be talked about any more," Gorges said to Dave Stubbs of the Montreal Gazette. "It's only looking ahead at what we have in front of us and that's a great way to look at things."

During this offseason, the Sabres made significant moves to make sure last season doesn't happen again. The team added Ryan O'Reilly and Jack Eichel, and Evander Kane is healed and ready to go for next season. The team also went out and hired former Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma.

"I've talked to Dan (Bylsma) a couple of times," Gorges said. "It's exciting when you have a Cup-winning coach. He's had a year off coaching and got to take a step back and really evaluate what the game is like today, watch it from a different perspective.

"As a player, that's exciting to be a part of."
