Ryan Walker - Set to open Tuesday's contestWalker will serve as the Giants' opening pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ImpactFor the fourth time in less than two weeks, Walker will handle the opener role for the Giants before turning the game over to the bullpen. Walker hasn't recorded more than five outs in any of his prior three "starts," so he shouldn't be expected to work more than once through the Toronto lineup. The Giants haven't designated a primary pitcher out of the bullpen behind Walker, but starter Alex Wood would be available on his normal four days' rest if manager Gabe Kapler wants to go that route.

Alex Cobb - Expected back this weekCobb (oblique) is expected to return from the injured list during this week's road trip, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ImpactHe struck out nine and walked none over 3.2 innings in a rehab start Saturday for Single-A San Jose. Cobb was able to build up to 66 pitches while touching 96 mph with his fastball in that rehab outing, so it makes sense that he would be able return to the rotation this week, likely either Friday in New York or Thursday in Toronto.

Druw Jones - Return timeline pushed backJones (quadriceps) isn't expected to return to game action until at least the middle of July after suffering a right hamstring strain while running the bases last week in a rehab g...
ImpactJones had been on Single-A Visalia's 7-day injured list since April 22 with a right quadriceps strain, and while he didn't aggravate that particular issue while rehabbing in the ACL, the hamstring strain may be a compensation-related injury. In any case, Jones looks like he'll be out of commission at least through the All-Star break, marking the third major setback he's suffered on the health front during his young professional career. In addition to the quad and hamstring injuries, Jones tore the labrum in his left shoulder last July, just three days after he inked a contract that included an $8.19 million signing bonus.

Christian Walker - Remains hotWalker went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, an RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Giants.
ImpactWalker's first-inning double plated Ketel Marte with Arizona's first run and extended his career-best hit streak to 11 games (17-for-39, .436). The steal was his fourth, the most the 32-year-old first baseman's recorded since swiping eight bags during his breakout 2019 season.

Alek Thomas - Multi-hit effort in winThomas went 3-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 5-2 win over San Francisco.
ImpactThomas rejoined the starting lineup after getting Saturday off and logged a third multi-hit effort in the seven games since being called up from Triple-A Reno. The outfielder is 10-for-25 (.400) with a home run, three doubles, three RBI and six runs scored since returning to the majors. Of note, he's had just one at-bat against a left-hander during this recent run, and it was his futility against southpaws (1-for-36) that was the primary reason he was demoted to the minors in May.
