ImpactIt's believed to be a minor issue, but Weaver will probably be skipped from his next scheduled spring appearance and he is in danger of falling behind the other rotation candidates in Reds camp. The 29-year-old signed a one-year, $2 million contract with Cincinnati in January with an eye toward claiming a starting role.

ImpactDe La Cruz split time last season between High-A and Double-A, slashing .304/.359/.586 between the two levels. The Reds' top prospect will open the season with Triple-A Louisville and could crack the majors later in the year if he continues to tear through minor-league pitching.

ImpactLegumina was acquired by the Reds from the Twins over the summer in the deadline deal for Tyler Mahle. The right-hander forged a 4.80 ERA in 33 appearances -- 16 starts -- over 86.1 innings with High-A Cedar Rapids and Double-A Wichita.

Matt McLain - Reassigned to minor-league campMcLain was reassigned Tuesday to the minor-league side of Reds camp.

ImpactMcLain had been one of the standouts this spring in major-league camp, but he'll get at least a little seasoning at Triple-A Louisville before the Reds consider calling him up to the bigs. He finished out the 2022 campaign at Double-A Chattanooga. The 23-year-old infielder went as the No. 17 overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft out of UCLA.

ImpactKarcher was added to the 40-man roster by Cincinnati over the winter, so an option to the minors was required. The right-hander recorded a 3.65 ERA over 56.2 innings of work with Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A Louisville.
