The Giants selected Avila's contract from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Avila made one scoreless appearance with Sacramento this season after a strong showing with the Giants this spring. The 26-year-old reliever will be making his major-league debut, assuming he gets into a game.

Returns to Giants
Avila returned to the Giants on Tuesday after the White Sox omitted him from the 26-man roster, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact
The White Sox selected Avila in the Rule 5 Draft in December after he posted a 1.14 ERA in 55.1 minor-league relief innings last season. Avila didn't see any action in spring training, though, and will return to the Giants' minor-league system.

Avila was selected by the White Sox during the Rule 5 draft Wednesday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Avila was a 26th-round pick by the Giants in 2019 and will now have a chance in the big leagues for Chicago. The right-hander split the 2022 campaign between the High-A and Double-A levels, and he had a 1.14 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 58:14 K:BB across 55.1 innings.
