Juan Soto - Drives home four runs SaturdaySoto went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run and an additional RBI in a 12-5 win against the Reds on Saturday.
ImpactSoto gave San Diego a 4-1 lead with a three-run shot in the sixth inning, and he tacked on another RBI with a sacrifice fly in the eighth. The star outfielder has been very productive of late, slashing .395/.509/.744 with four homers, 12 RBI, eight runs and an 11:10 BB:K over his past 12 contests. With 15 long balls on the campaign, Soto could make a run for the 30-homer mark by the end of the season, a feat he's accomplished just once (in 2019) as a major-leaguer.

Fernando Tatis Jr. - Knocks in three runs SaturdayTatis went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and three RBI against Cincinnati in Saturday's 12-5 victory.
ImpactTatis put the Padres on the scoreboard in the third inning with an RBI single, and he added another run-scoring single in the seventh before ending his day with a sacrifice fly in the eighth. The star outfielder had hit a bit of a skid entering the weekend, having gone just 4-for-28 with no extra-base hits and nine strikeouts over his previous six games. Tatis has posted strong numbers overall this season, though, slashing .277/.339/.515 with 15 homers, 40 RBI, 45 runs and 14 thefts over 63 games.

Rougned Odor - On bench versus southpawOdor is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.
ImpactWith lefty Andrew Abbott on the hill, the lefty-hitting Odor will retreat to the bench for the series finale. Short-side platoon mate Nelson Cruz will serve as the Padres' designated hitter Sunday in Odor's stead.

Trent Grisham - Perking up at plateGrisham went 1-for-3 with a triple, a walk, an RBI, a stolen base and three runs scored in Saturday's 12-5 win against the Reds.
ImpactGrisham has largely struggled this season, but he's been hot of late, putting together a five-game hitting streak during which he's tallied a double, a triple, two homers, a stolen base, four RBI and five runs. The center fielder spent some time early in the season hitting atop the order, but he's batted in the No. 8 or No. 9 slot in all 22 games he's played in since June 7. Despite the recent strong stretch, Grisham's season slash line still sits at a disappointing .212/.321/.388, and he's added eight homers, 23 RBI, 35 runs and eight thefts over 297 plate appearances.

Yu Darvish - Won't start SundayDarvish (illness) won't be available to start Sunday's game against the Reds, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
ImpactDarvish was moved off a scheduled start this past Tuesday in Pittsburgh while he battled an illness, but the Padres held out hope that he would show enough improvement to slot back into the rotation for the weekend series in Cincinnati. The right-hander evidently hasn't fully moved past the ailment, however, so he'll get at least one more day off to recover before the Padres revisit when he might return during the final week before the All-Star break. Adrian Morejon will draw the start Sunday, but he may be serving as more of an opener since he hasn't recorded more than seven outs in any of his appearances in the majors or minors this season.
