Progresses to jogging, shooting Powell (Achilles) recently progressed to jogging and on-court shooting, Tim Cato of The Athletic reports. Impact Powell underwent surgery to repair a torn Achilles' tendon in late January, so it's encouraging he's starting to make some tangible basketball-related progress just over five months later. Prior to getting hurt, Powell was enjoying a strong season for the Mavericks, averaging 9.4 points (63.8 percent from the field), 5.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 26.5 minutes per game. A start date for the 2020-21 NBA season has yet to be firmly set, but if the upcoming campaign doesn't begin until at least mid-to-late December, Powell should have a decent shot at being cleared for the opener.
