NBA Power Rankings
John Galinsky
Posted: 2 minutes ago

The top of the power rankings are easy. The Lakers hold firm at No. 1 after another dominant week with the Suns right behind along with the four Eastern elites. The hard part is figuring out what to do with the suddenly streaking Kings, Clippers, Bobcats and Timberwolves (yes, one win counts as a streak in Minnesota).

Records are through games of Monday, Nov. 30

NBA Power Rankings Week Of 12/01/2009
Rk Team Last Wk Rise/Fall High/Low Comment
1 Lakers 1 - 1/6 (13-3) They've won every game by double digits since Gasol's return. Then again, the toughest opponent they've faced has been the Thunder.

2 Suns 2 - 1/11 (14-3) These Suns have more depth and play better defense than the old D'Antoni versions. And they're just as devastating on offense.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
3 Magic 4 (+1) 2/7 (14-4) Dwight's finally rebounding and Rashard's hitting 3s. No wonder the Magic are looking scary again.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
4 Celtics 8 (+4) 1/8 (13-4) Hey Rasheed, you're not Eddie House. Post up!
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
5 Cavaliers 7 (+2) 2/9 (12-5) It's foolish to expect much more from Shaq, but Cavs can get a lot better if Big Z, Delonte and Varejao play like they did last year.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
6 Hawks 3 (-3) 2/12 (12-5) After all the talk about how much the Hawks have matured, they've fallen into one of their old lulls of soft, selfish basketball. If they've really changed, they'll bust out of it.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
7 Nuggets 6 (-1) 3/7 (12-5) If you want to be taken seriously, you can't lose at home to the T-Wolves. You just can't.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
8 Mavericks 5 (-3) 5/9 (13-5) Mavs have been among NBA's best rebounding and road teams -- a good sign they're here to stay.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
9 Spurs 14 (+5) 5/14 (9-6) They're getting it together after a 4-6 start, but competition hasn't been stiff. That'll change this week with dates against the Celtics, Nuggets and Jazz.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
10 Jazz 12 (+2) 10/20 (10-7) After a head-scratching home loss to the Thunder, the Jazz played great basketball in wins over Bulls, Blazers and Grizz.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
11 Trail Blazers 9 (-2) 7/12 (12-7) Nate McMillan's been tinkering with lineups, rotations and playing styles, which is understandable early in the season. But he needs to figure it out before the players get frustrated.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
12 Rockets 11 (-1) 10/14 (9-8) Carl Landry may win Sixth Man of the Year if he starts playing better on the road.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
13 Heat 13 - 6/13 (9-7) Wade's made half his shots in a game only twice all season. Is that why Charley Rosen calls him a second-tier superstar?
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
14 Thunder 15 (+1) 14/20 (9-8) Durant's well on his way to becoming a second-tier superstar. In his case, that's a compliment.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
15 Bucks 10 (-5) 10/27 (9-7) Bogut's return should take pressure off Jennings, who's shot bricks the last five games.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
16 Bulls 16 - 13/17 (6-9) Another disastrous circus road trip means Bulls will be having nightmares about clowns again.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
17 Kings 22 (+5) 17/30 (8-8) Kings have won three straight to go along with an earlier four-game streak. This never happened last year.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
18 Clippers 23 (+5) 18/24 (8-10) With four wins in the last five games, the Clips are back in playoff conversation. That talk will heat up if Blake Griffin is the real deal.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
19 Hornets 17 (-2) 8/26 (7-10) Okafor's been better than Tyson Chandler was last year -- but that's not saying much.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
20 Raptors 18 (-2) 16/20 (7-11) Season's gone south after 5-4 start. Why? Defense. Six of the last eight opponents have scored 112 or more.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
21 Bobcats 27 (+6) 20/27 (7-9) Just when you think the 'Cats are hopeless, Gerald Wallace outplays LeBron and they reel off four straight Ws.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
22 Warriors 21 (-1) 21/26 (6-10) Anthony Morrow is the NBA's best shooter you've never heard of.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
23 Pacers 19 (-4) 18/24 (6-9) Tyler Hansbrough's averaging about eight points and five rebounds on 38-percent shooting. Pretty much what most scouts predicted.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
24 Pistons 20 (-4) 16/24 (6-11) Big Ben's resurgence is a nice story, but it's bad news when he's the best thing you've got going.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
25 Wizards 26 (+1) 13/26 (5-10) Abe Pollin's death seems to have inspired the Wiz, at least temporarily, but the team still has deep-seated issues.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
26 Grizzlies 25 (-1) 25/27 (6-12) Solid play over last few weeks unraveled in a fourth-quarter collapse vs. Clippers and Monday's blowout loss in Utah.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
27 76ers 24 (-3) 14/27 (5-13) Iverson in Philly? Great idea! As long as this is still 2001.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
28 Timberwolves 29 (+1) 28/29 (2-15) Where did that win in Denver come from?! And can Wolves find something else like it before another 15-game skid?
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
29 Knicks 28 (-1) 23/30 (3-14) Friday's game in Denver was fitting. Al Harrington scores 41 and the Knicks give up 50 to Carmelo.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
30 Nets 30 - 28/30 (0-17) Was Lawrence Frank the problem? Of course not. But don't be surprised if the Nets get some of that new-coach bounce and win a few over next couple weeks.
