Josh Allen - Gets day-to-day label from coachBills head coach Sean McDermott said Monday that Allen is day-to-day with a sprained left foot following Sunday's 33-27 overtime loss to the Buccaneers.
ImpactMcDermott's description of the injury mostly aligns with Ian Rapoport of NFL Network's report from earlier Monday, which indicated that Allen is tending to a mild case of turf toe. Per Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com, Allen was sporting a walking boot on his left foot in his postgame press conference Sunday, but the quarterback suggested he wasn't concerned about the injury and was optimistic he would be ready to play next weekend against Carolina. In any case, the Bills are likely to have backup Mitchell Trubisky take at least some reps with the first-team offense this week, allowing him to stay prepared for the start if Allen fails to progress as anticipated. Even if Allen enters the upcoming weekend without an injury designation, the Bills could look to scale back his rushing workload to better preserve his health. In addition to throwing for 308 yards and two touchdowns against Tampa Bay, Allen provided 109 yards and another score on the ground to finish with one of the best fantasy lines of his career.
