Ryan McLeod - Should be ready for regular seasonMcLeod (undisclosed) is expected to be ready for the start of the NHL season, Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton reports.
ImpactMcLeod has missed practice for the last week, but he is progressing and is expected to play in one or two preseason games. The center had 11 goals and 23 points in 57 games with the Oilers in 2022-23.

Mattias Ekholm - Expected to play in preseasonEkholm (hip flexor) is expected to get into at least one preseason game, Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton reports.
ImpactEkholm missed the start of training camp but is close to returning to the lineup. He should play at some point in the next 10 days and is expected to be ready for Opening Night in Vancouver on Oct. 11. Ekholm had nine goals and 32 points in 78 games split between Nashville and Edmonton.

Spencer Martin - On waivers ThursdayMartin was placed on waivers by the Canucks on Thursday.
ImpactThe netminder was ranked the third goalie on the depth chart, behind Thatcher Demko and Casey DeSmith. Martin had a terrible 2022-23 campaign with the Canucks, going 11-15-1 with a 3.99 GAA and .871 save percentage before he was sent to the minors on Feb. 14. He redeemed himself with AHL Abbotsford as he was 7-7-2 with a 2.43 GAA and .916 save percentage. Look for Martin to be recalled if Demko or DeSmith are injured.
